Advised to get these by a physio for sciatica pain. A little on the hard side for me.

I'm currently suffering from a pinched nerve in my back and have some painful tension around the rhomboid muscle, which can be crippling at times. The muscles in my back get so tight and restrictive that I feel like I have to turn my entire torso to look in any direction. My physio therapist gave me exercises to do, and while they do work, they take time, and exercising when in pain is a challenge, even if it’s necessary for recovery.I had seen quite a few physio therapy videos on YouTube recommending these massage balls for the back but had never tried them. I'd always opted for tennis balls, which were often too soft to be effective. These massage balls are incredible! They are made from plastic but are free from PAH and phthalates, which is always reassuring. The quality is excellent, and they feel tough and durable, perfect for rigorous use.The set comes with a nice storage net bag, which is actually really useful. You can put them away and hang them up, keeping them tidy and ready for the next use. The different sizes in the set really allow you to target specific areas of the body that are experiencing muscle stiffness and discomfort. With these balls, I've been able to release tension from the tight and tense muscles in my back while increasing blood circulation to the area.Because of their size, they're able to get into areas between the shoulder blades that foam rollers and other massagers can't reach. They are very hard, and they certainly take some getting used to, but they really work if you stick with them. I recommend experimenting with the different sizes first to find one that works with your pain tolerance. These give me almost immediate relief when I’m particularly tight and have made a noticeable difference to my entire back after 1-2 weeks of daily use.The only downside is that they are made of hard plastic, which can make them tricky to use against a wall as they slide around or leave marks. I prefer using them against an exercise mat on the floor. Despite daily use since March, they still look brand new and hold their shape perfectly. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and highly recommend them to anyone experiencing muscle tightness in the shoulders, back, and neck.Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I've been using it for a week and the lower body pain has improved a lot. Great value for the price!

Since it’s a round ball and if you are trying to use it on your own it’s a bit difficult. I find the murelin one better which has a ball and a flat surface easier to apply pressure too. Wouldn’t recommend this.

Good size, firmness and colour. Came in a plastic bag though and not the one expected. There was no information sheet either.UPDATE: my error, it did come in the little net bag with an info sheet as described (I had mislaid it). It’s great value for money and I would recommend it.

Having never used a ball or roller to treat muscle pain, I was bemused by the huge variety of options available when I started looking into it. Different diameters, different hard/softnesses, different types of spikes. Would they do anything, or was this some kind of money-making scheme for the health industry? In the end, I chose this set for a few reasons: 1) the pain I most want to treat is in my lower back, and consensus on the interweb suggested that balls (rather than rollers) were the right approach for this 2) the smaller diameter of these meant, I hoped, that they would be able to 'get in' to the sides of my spine and around the sacrum 3) the lacrosse ball does not squish and the spiky ball does, so I thought this would cover me if one or the other was too painful and finally, but maybe most importantly, 4) they did not cost a fortune so there was not much to lose. Anyway, I have been using them every day for 10 minutes, and they have hugely reduced my pain. I use both the hard lacrosse and the soft spiky ball because they create different sensations — neither is better than the other but depends on how painful things are that day or how much I think I can tolerate. They come in a small mesh bag with an instruction leaflet.
