Q: can you reuse the boveda for guitars once they dry out?

There are instructions available that you can find via online search which give the steps required to replenish Boveda packs for reuse. However, most reviews do not recommend trying the process because of its hit or miss results. I have not tried to replenish a pack so I do not have any actual experience attempting the process.

Q: Is this necessary or overkill?

Very much worth the price to protect my Archtops. You should keep all acoustic guitars in an environment of 40-60% humidity. Unless you want to get cracking on the tops and finish of your guitars. :-0

Q: How do you store the extra packets so they don't dry out before you need to replace the one in your instrument case?

The refills came in a zip-lock plastic bag. Mine did anyway. That works. Any plastic zip-lock bag will work.

Q: What size fits into the D'addario sleeve holders? (Bags)?

To the best of my knowledge, D'Addario only makes one size of Humidipak in either their Restore or Maintain Humidipak line. The D'Addario sleeve holders will also hold the Boveda size 70 bags which is convenient (there are other sizes that fit too, but different humidity control specs). Boveda specializes in humidity control for a range of products and as such has a number of sizes and humidity levels for specific applications, so you have to make sure of the size that you are ordering. D'Addario doesn't provide the dimensions of their Humidipak bags, but Boveda does. Size 70 is 5.25 inches x 3.5 inches. If in doubt for your particular bag, just stick a ruler in the bag and measure it's inside dimensions. You can then go to the Boveda website and check to see if what you want to use will fit the bag you have. If you are ordering replacements from D'Addario it's just one size. Keep an eye out for sales that various outlets run - some of them are really good deals and Boveda or D'Addario will work in either of their same size bags.
