Golden Cockerel Set of 6 Blank Hollow Wooden Eggs

Since my children were small, I have purchased fillable wooden eggs for them to paint in the days before Easter. Each year, we add a few more and have amassed quite a wonderful and sentimental collection. In the past, I have ordered from Oriental Trading and, while the price is great, many of the eggs do not close properly without some sanding and effort. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to limit my purchases of Chinese goods and looked for an alternative. These eggs are Russian-made and beautiful. Each one closes perfectly and they are sanded as smooth as can be. They are also a little larger than their Chinese counterparts and separate in the middle versus near the top as the others we own do. I prefer these eggs from Golden Cockerel and hope they never stop selling them. They are not the cheapest but this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. I am willing to pay more for something that will become family heirlooms I hope my children will want when they are grown. The eggs come packaged well and include a sweet little print of a matryoshka doll. So glad to have this resource to continue a beloved family tradition.

These wooden eggs are simply perfect! If you want to stop using disposable plastic eggs, and want to create a lasting legacy item to pass down through the generations, these are the way to do it! They ALL open beautifully, and have an excellent seal when closed. They are expertly crafted, and are customizable. I chose six spring images to hand draw on each, and my husband used his wood burning tools to go over my art. Next, I color coded each so that they could be allocated to specific family members when trying to hunt then in the yard. We are NOT trained artists, just artsy creative types who wanted to create something beautiful, and who are dedicated to getting away from disposable crud associated with holidays. What you see here are they way they appear before we applied a varnish to the outside. I hope to buy six more to create a fourth set in shades of teal.

These are amazing and worth the money. I have bought other ones that you struggled to open and close. These open and close like a gem! I wish I was able to buy more but sadly they are no longer available. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!!!

Loved how these came in. Had to sand them down a little so they were easier to open though. Disappointed they went up from $24 suddenly to $30 though,may look somewhere else. $30 for only 6 is steap. If they hadn't raised the price they would have kept my business for a few more orders

Next to impossible to open. Once I used all my strength in doing so half of them wouldn’t go back together. Poor product. What else is new. Now I’m without Easter eggs for my grandchild. I guess I should have gone with cheap plastic.

Exactly the eggs I wanted! Hoping they last several years as a substitute for cheap plastic enviro-unfriendly ones. They vary in size ever so slightly, so not perfectly interchangeable but a small thing when you care about sustainability. One Lindt chocolate truffle ball fits easily inside with room to spare. I believe they are paintable, something I'll do next year!

They are beautiful and fun to decorate! I love how we now can decorate eggs but not have to worry they crack as I would normally use real eggs. This eggs we can keep for years and if you dont like what you painted, you can always paint over it too... I enjoy so much that I can get away from plastic and still enjoy Easter and make it fun for my kids!
