I actually quit drinking coffee a number of years back due to my passing a lot of kidney stones. My doctor gave me a list of food I should avoid and coffee just happened to be one of them. It was not an easy thing to quit as I am one of those people that just LOVE a fresh cup of high quality, fresh ground coffee in the morning. Its now been over 7 years since I have passed a kidney stone and I did cut out like 95% of the food that were on that list my doctor gave me. So I decided to start drinking it again, but only in moderation. Basically just 1 cup in the morning. I wound up buying a really nice coffee maker but since I like to grind my own beans, I needed to buy a storage container. I was initially just going to use some of my stainless steel POP containers, but I decided to do a bit of browsing on Amazon before committing to that route 100% and that is when I stumbled across Coffee Gator's Coffee Canister. The Charcoal Grey color matched perfectly with my Kitchen since my Kitchen is basically designed around marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances. And I loved that it came with its own scoop and two containers, one for the unground beans and a smaller one where you could store a small amount of ground coffee. The larger container has a fantastic seal on it. Its nice and tight, but not so tight that its difficult to open. In fact its incredibly easy to open. That seal will ensure your coffee stays fresh. The smaller container has a screw off top, but its extremely easy to thread it properly and it also has a great seal. And they really do have a really fantastic visual design. They look fantastic on your counter top. Bottom line - I am sure there are probably hundreds of different containers out there that one could use for storing beans or ground coffee and I am sure most would work pretty well. Its not like creating these types of storage containers is actually difficult. That being said, I wound up going with Coffee Gator's storage container for a number of reasons. First, I thought the overall design looked really nice and it matched the design of our kitchen perfectly. 2nd, I love that it came with a smaller 2nd container for left over ground coffee or you could use it to grind a few days worth of coffee so you don't have to grind coffee every single morning.The container is small enough that the coffee in it isn't going to start degrading in quality by the time your done using it all. 3rd, it came with its own scoop, which we keep stored right in the main coffee bin. And after getting it and seeing it first hand, they really are quality containers through and through. If your looking for a storage container for your coffee, wether it be beans of ground coffee, you really can't go wrong with this model. In fact, I plan on buying 2 more this upcoming Christmas and giving one to each of my sisters as they are both coffee connoisseurs and their coffee containers just aren't as nice as these are. All in all, just a fantastic set that will make most coffee drinkers very happy! 5 Stars!!

3 years of use and I believe it does a fine job keeping my coffee fresh. It looks good too next to my coffee machine which is black.

I like the first one I bought, so bought another. I now have one black and one grey, one for coffee beans and one for espresso beans. The included metal scoops are very high quality and convenient for measuring the coffee. I keep these in the pantry above my coffee bar where they are always accessible. I like that they also include an outgassing release valve and a calendar wheel on top with which the roast date, purchase date, or expiration date can be shown.

I've been using these canisters for a few weeks now and am very happy with them. The seals are perfect and the latching mechanisms work smoothly. Taking the lids apart to wash then reassemble was easy. Both canisters feel well made so I'm hopeful that they'll last a while, though only time will tell. I think the gray canister looks and feels nicer, but I'm glad that this set came with different ones because that makes it easier to grab the one I want when I wander into the kitchen for my morning brew. Also, the set was reasonably priced. The only thing I didn't care for in this set is the scoops that come with it. The cutaway bit in the handles may be stylish, but I don't think it's practical given what they're supposed to be used for. I think solid handles would be better. Admittedly, this is a very small gripe, and I'm just using the scoops I already have. A few extra filters are included in the package. That's nice, but there's no guidance as to when to change them. Searching through the questions here, it looks like a single filter could potentially last years. That's great, but I wish that information were easier to find. On the whole, these containers seem very good and I'm happy with my purchase.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: This container is a step up from the basic multi-purpose stainless canisters due to the inclusion of a one-way valve which allows C02 to escape and keep beans fresher for longer. >Has a date tracker on the top to track bean purchase date (or in my case - the day I roasted them). I roasted this batch on July 10 (see photo). >Includes a scoop, but I already have a nice one given as a gift, so we don't use it - tends to get in the way when stowed on the side of the canister. I don't really like this - we just keep the scoop inside. >More expensive than a plain stainless container, but the coffee snob in your life will appreciate it! 5-stars.

Great quality for the price. I wanted a good storage solution for my coffee beans without spending a fortune on something like a Fellow Atmos. This seems well built and easy to keep clean.

I like the look but... For the price the clasp that holds down the lid is cheaply made and will not last with the pressure used to hold the lid down.
