The different colored bobbins let me tab different sections of embroidery floss. For example: reds, pinks, purples etc.

The slots for the thread are too large. It doesn’t stay in after being wrapped.

I bought these for the colours, and while they're a lot more transparent than the images will have you believe, they're still perfect for what I needed them for. I buy some of my floss on cones, and some on skeins, depending on availability, and by the time I need to switch out thread on a new bobbin, I've forgotten how individual colours are stored.With these, I'm able to use colour coding to know the difference before I get up and go searching through my closet.Being plastic, the bobbins are very sturdy, but they will take up more room in your craft box. As others have said, the slot to hold the end of the thread is almost comically large, but if you've got a tight pack in your craft box, it won't be too much of a problem.My only complaint with these is that because of how translucent they are, you have to be careful when writing floss numbers on them, because they will show up backwards on the other side, and run the risk of looking like the wrong number.

These are absolutely perfect! For the reviewers having problems keeping the floss ends attached, all I do is a double wrap & I have no issues. Instead of just anchoring the end in one slot, go around both. I've been using these quite a bit & since doing that I've had no problems. Unlike some plastic bobbins, personal experience w/ the Darice ones I bought that were a nightmare, these actually DO fit into a floss winder. Great value & I will most definitely be ordering more!
