TAMIYAWorm Gear Box Set TAM72004 Science Kits & Accys

I got this little motor and gearbox (yes... the motor is included) yesterday. It comes like a model car, requiring a little bit of cutting of the plastic parts from a framework and assembly, but it is very nicely made and went together in about 15 minutes. The instructions were in an Asian language, but had English translations. I was able to make it out from the well drawn diagrams. came with several options for mounting/attaching machine works to the drive axle and even came with an extra axle and mounting point (for the front wheels of a car, should you be building one).I built the gearbox with the slower of the 2 gearing options and was surprised at the torque when I touched the leads to a single AA battery. The X shaped attachment snagged on my finger and snatched the entire assembly out of my hand. When I put in a screw that prevented the axle from making a full revolution, the motor stopped, but the gears didn't grind and nothing broke.This is exactly what I need for my little project.

There's some assembly required, but I love that sort of thing. This is great for models or any kind of project where you need to add movement. Very versatile kit with different gearing options and attachments for the drive shaft.

very cool gearbox. liked the gearing options (for different speeds) and useful accessories.smooth, powerful motor. Ran with 4.5Vdc (3 AAAs), very strong. would've been fine with 3V too.

These are incredible little gearboxes. The previous gearbox had been opening and closing my kitchen exhaust louvres for about 20 years!
