The perfect blade for what it is.
Its great on so many levels. the size is right, the feel is perfect, and the look is why I bought it. The sheath is total trash, the only reason I'm not taking away stars is because I paid for the knife, not the sheath. I hate to say "for the money..." but in this case, you are only paying for a knife. I also have a SRK and a Gerber LMF. I prefer the SP6. Others have said it doesn't come sharp from the factory, but I don't feel that way. The SRK is razor sharp, the SP6 is pretty sharp. Definitely sharp enough and certainly nothing that I would even address if not for the other reviewers. Lastly, its big. My complaint about the SRK and the LMF is that they just aren't big enough for me. The SP6 is awesome. My only concern is that it will be used for camping (it's not a camping knife), and i will baton, I will throw it at trees, and it will be used to prep wood for fires. I hope it holds up. I've managed to break two LMFs, the SRK is so small that I can't abuse it.

Practical wilderness knife of the quality of one 4 times the cost.
This knife is designated as a fighting knife because of the length and blade style, it is a less expensive version of a combat classic. the knife is shaving razor sharp out of the box. Despite its designation as a fighter it is a highly practical outdoor utility knife and camp knife. I wouldn't recommend it as a skinner unless you are exceptional with a blade and capable of using a larger knife for more delicate work. It is great for batoning through medium size logs, is long enough to deal with light brush work, and is fully capable as a last ditch defense in a hog or black bear encounter gone terribly wrong. The sheath is cheap but relatively practical and molle compatible.

One of the best knives for the money. 👍
Ontario Spec Plus knives don't come sharp from the factory. In fact, the bevels are often uneven. However, you're getting a knife that's often better than popular knives that cost 3-4 times as much. The sheath is decent, but not great. I wish the knife came with a real metal hand guard. Otherwise, it's an excellent knife that will never break.

None of these have arrived sharp, but decent quality.
Well made, but none have arrived sharp enough to cut anything but butter. Other than that, they are nice knives. They are high carbon, so they will rust if not taken care of, but will hold a much sharper edge than stainless. There is always a tradeoff there with any knife. Mora puts out some sharp knives, but don't make anything like these. Overall, worth the money, they just need work right out of the box.

Ontario knife SP-6 Fighting knife
OKC known for there value in there knives, Made of carbon steel, 56-58 Rockwell Hardness, rubber contoured handle with groves for gripping, well balanced heavy blade just under 8'' but comfortable to wear all day. Heavy nylon sheath with a double retainer straps for upside down carry. Has a Mollie strap on back side of sheath for attachment and one for belt carry. Heavy spine, wide blade. Price wise excellent value, quality craftsmanship excellent as well. These OKC knives are a great value.

Worth it
For the money it is a good knife. Lightweight so wouldn't be a drag on your belt if you carried it EDC. Very sharp and the Kryton handle is comfortable. I have a Buck knife with the same Kryton material and have had it for close to 25 years and it holds up well over time.

It was bound to happen. Uneven grinds!
Most of my reviews on Ontario knives are on older models that use 1095 steel or the wonderful double digit SP series in 5160 (my favorite being SP45-49, then the overly heavy SP50-54), which apparently are mostly discontinued. The newer SP and RAT/TAK series are almost all in 1075 steel, more ductile/tough and cheaper to buy and machine, resulting in less edge-holding. I never had an edge roll on my TAK-1 in 1095 or the SPs in 5160, nor a failure of any kind other than when I was splitting a fire hardened 4 inch wide three foot long beam I found on the beach which had a hidden nail in the middle. After I split it with minimal difficulty, I noticed the nail and immediately checked my SP-48 for damage. There was a tiny 2mm rolled spot on the edge. Amazing knives! Well, I recently bought the SP-6 and I must say I’m disappointed. Not only am I stuck with the, IMHO, inferior 1075 steel, I found it had pretty uneven grinds. I’m talking significantly. Will this be a dealbreaker for keeping it? Due to the price (still damn affordable for a US made large blade) and the fact it is primarily just a cheap fighter for a SHTF scenario and not a hard user like my older Ontarios, I’ll just keep it until I find an older 1095 model. PS I wanted an SP-6 ever since I found this Randall-styled model felt better than the old ”Kabar” styled SP-1, which I gifted to an active duty soldier. He was army, worked in the combat zone at times and didn’t have a decent fixed blade. I also gifted him one of my SPAXes. Hope this helps someone.

Excellent Combat Knife
This is not a survival, rescue, bushcraft knife guys. It's an impeccably made, massively underpriced work of combat artistry. Been a huge fan of Ontario fixed blades since I purchased the Ranger TFI and I gotta say, this knife is solid as can be. Not sure if it's durable? Check out Mayor Fuglycool's destruction demo for this knife on youtube. Flying colors! Compared to the Kabar Full Size, I gotta say this knife (for less money) is the better value. Keeping in my to-go bag! Couldn't be more satisfied.
