Not a 5 star read by a long way!
Really struggling to find words to review this book.I'll start with the good: I like the style in which this book was written, the descriptions, layout etc I found very easy to follow. I found myself wanting to read on as I did find it very intriguing. I also found the way in which the author portrayed Sam being brainwashed and manipulated very accurate and realistic. The bad: I can't understand how this book is receiving 5 stars. When i was three quarters of the way through the book, i found myself wondering when the story was going to begin. Not a very exciting read. The ending was quite brief and anti-climatic. In thrillers where there is a man and a woman, I generally find the female to be very frustrating. I understand this can be to show they're manipulated etc but I find they can just come across as stupid.Overall I wouldn't recommend this book. For me, i just found there wasn't much of a storyline to it, it became very dull in parts.

Implausible read.
A thriller it isn’t - although its description lead me to believe otherwise - and I couldn wait for the twists, turns and psychological mind games. But there were none! Could not relate to the main character at all - in fact wonder if she had mental health issues herself - a teacher who ups and leaves her career (fair enough, it can happen). But who then finds herself ignored, neglected, and implausibly left out from her wedding day onwards - and doesn hop on the first plane back to normality??But surely something is gong to happen to grip me soon? No - in fact it was rather boring as our wrongly imprisoned victim takes to clearing out the old hut whre he lived growing up. As for the ending ! Talk about a fast get out - just nonsense.

Intelligent gripping page turner
I couldn't put this down. The Innocent Wife tackles a number of contemporary themes, from true crime documentaries to the fickleness of social media. At the same time it's a gripping modern thriller, it's pacy and it keeps you wanting to know what happens next, the way a thriller should. I can recommend this book to thriller fans, you're in for treat.

The end is truly ridiculous
Kept going because I was intrigued to know how it ended . . . disappointed in the extreme.

Interesting
I found reading the description of the Innocent Wife intriguing. I’ve read about women who are fascinated by prisoners incarcerated for murder and form a relationship with them so was interested what the author would write about the character, Samantha who does just that. Believing Dennis is innocent she joins in the fight with a lot of other supporters to have him freed. When he is released and starts his life with her she begins to wonder if he wants her or not. She has very low self-esteem and insecurities which makes it easy for her to be manipulated and controlled. What makes it more interesting is it has characters who are pretty messed up with good twists and turns. The suspense builds up bit by bit and not until near the end does the explosive action begin. One thing I didn’t like was the animal cruelty in the book.

Disturbing and frustrating.
I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy this book. The storyline made me uncomfortable from the start. Suffice it to say that I won’t be reading any more books by this author. The main character Sam came across as unstable and rather stupid. Why on earth she would stay with someone she didn’t properly know when he treated her so badly I do not understand. If her character had been stronger then perhaps it would have been more interesting. As it was I only finished it to find out what happened, and was just glad it was finished. I thought the Richard and Judy book list was to be relied upon to recommend excellent books? Obviously not...

Not a lot of depth.
Quite liked the start, using extracts from book etc but soon fell into a rather dull style. Not a lot of development. High school level of writing “One afternoon.....a phone rang.”Characters one dimensional - didn’t feel invested in them at all. Constantly being fed obvious hooks.Amazed I finished it.

YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE!!
This book had me hooked instantly. I was a massive fan of Making a murderer so the whole premise instantly appealed to me. I read it in record time, not wanting to put it down. It was so clever, gripping and full of suspense. I was dying to know how it would end and when the finale came my jaw hit the floor. I can not recommend highly enough.
