THAT'S A (Swiss Army) KNIFE!
...To misquote Crocodile Dundee.I wanted to try one of the larger SAK's for camping/bushcraft~This was a very good price on Amazon & this model had all the tools i usually use on my regular SAK.This has an 80mm blade,& significantly thicker than the standard sized ones.Either Victorinox have upped their game recently or I was lucky with this one~ Proper sharp out of the box.Comfortable handle, knife feels more robust than a standard size model, The blade lock will take a little time to adjust to & the tools are a bit stiffer to open than a standard SAK~ possibly a good thing~thinking... after some useage.Plastic is not as aesthetically pleasing as the standard models. I understand that this size SAK (but not this model) is what is now issued to Swiss soldiers, so i'm guessing the plastic was chosen for resiliency rather than any cost cutting exercise by Victorinox.Time will tell. Thus far impressed. While still of pocketable size, if you want a pocket knife go with a standard sized model.Mine will be reserved for camping & similar outdoor pursuits. If Victorinox are reading this, my constructive feedback~ It would be good to have a secondary smaller knife blade like most standard SAK's have.

Perfect pocket knife
I had one of these several years ago and sadly mislaid it. It has the usual durability one would expect from Victorinox with a superb wood saw to boot. Unfortunately it has to stay in my workshop as it is a lock blade knife and illegal to carry in public safe and sound in a pocket! It is quite sturdy but if you want to carve a totem pole from an oak tree it’s probably not the tool for you.

Great substantial Victorianex lockknife.
This is a knife and a half! It has the usual Victorinox attributes of sturdiness, and long serving robustness. The blade is a good size larger, and thicker than other Victorinox penknives I have, with a good strong locking mechanism, which is quick and easy to use, you simply push over a steel holder that runs the length of the knife, locking the flat screwdriver the other end as well. Also in the handle are the usual tweezers, and toothpick.Very pleased with this large penknife, which is substantially heavier than the other many bladed Victorinox penknives, and of course it will last as long as them, perhaps even supersede them!!You need to sign for it upon arrival, because of its status.

Excellent rural use multitool .
This model is great for day trips in the countryside or as a back up on weekend bushcraft excursions. The plastic scales can accommodate a small aftermarket ferro rod but I still prefer the walnut scales as this is really classy. The Forrester is one of my favourite models.

Great Knife BUT over 3 inches and illegal to carry without a good reason !!
Great Blade, Saw, Can Opener/small flathead/Phillips screwdriver, Double setting large flat screwdriver/Bottle opener, Reamer, Corkscrew, Keyring attachment. Cant recommend enough BUT KEEP IN RUCKSACK or BOOT OF CAR and make sure you have a good reason eg WORK/CAMPING/HUNTING etc - POLICE always think the worse so be warned and check the laws and be careful its like a Razor Blade !

Shame about the cheap plastic handles.
My only disappointment with this excellent Knife is the plastic handles, they give the knife an undeserved cheap feeling in the hand. Its a shame because this knife oozes quailty in every other way. The main blade locks into place with a confident click and the liner locking mechanisms is both easy to use and feels like its fit for purpose. The bottle opener come flat head screwdriver also locks into place. The saw, according to other reviewers is the best available on a pocket knife, I can't verify that but its certainly sharpe and it cuts in both the forward push and the backward pull, it made short work of the green wood I tested it on and I've found it to be an excellent usable feature. There is also a can opener with a small flat head screwdriver, a corkscrew, toothpick, reamer/awl and small tweezers. The main blade is really sharpe straight out of the box, how well it will hold its edge and how well it will sharpen only time will tell. I chose this particular model because I wanted a straight blade and not the serrated version and unlike a lot of reviewers I wanted one with a corkscrew which I'll use more often than a side loaded philips screwdriver, which is on the foresters sister model 'the trailmaster'. Its worth pointing out that due to the length of the blade and locking capability this knife is illegal to carry in the UK without an appropriate and lawful purpose, so fine if your camping, fishing, hunting etc but not as an every day carry item.I'll get a lot of use from this knife I'm sure when out camping and hiking. I've owned victorinox swiss army knives for nearly thirty years and rate them very highly for purpose, value and excellent quality. I paid £22.70 for this one and despite my critisim of the cheap plastic handles, which I've marked it down one star, it was worth every penny.

Find your own way...
Even tho, I'm a knife collector and quite serious Hiker/Bushcrafter I became tired of all those 'survivalist' type folks selling you knives with the motto "bigger is better"! Do you really need 5 inch blade to take along when you're hiking just to put some jam on your croissant? Need to open a can? You won't use that 5inch blade for that anyway, striking a ferro-rod? Most of those big suckers are coated or got beveled edge, so you need a special striker for that,Batoning a wood? Yes, that big blade might be useful for this, but are you batoning a wood on every hike?...I think you got the idea. Anyway it's a great knife for the price, lock mechanism is strong, quality amazing and you're getting all the useful tools you may need when out and about city-boy, great as a back-up tool too. Did I mention that you can use the spine of the wood saw to strike your ferro-rod?See you on the trail!

Great knife.
Have owned this knife for 6 years now, and it's still in one piece, almost like new actually! It is a little heavy to carry around loose in your pocket, but i do take it on camping trips, and occasionally use it in the garden. Knife can be sharpened to like it is brand new. Highly recommend!
