Nice Dynamometer
This Dynamometer (Grip strength meter) is a nice device for keeping track of hand grip exercise progress, or for monitoring the return of strength following injuries sustained. It seems to be very accurate based on my informal testing by my wife and me. The grip strength measured has been fairly consistent from time to time, although since I have been working with grip exercisers semi-regularly I would expect to see improvement over time. This meter is a versatile instrument, being able to accommodate up to 19 different users; logging each measurement for each user. Individual users can input their age and gender, which is used to generate a subjective broad assessment of the person's grip strength ("weak", "normal", and "strong"). This automatic characterization seems a little odd to me. I personally would prefer to just know the measured strength without editorialization. But maybe for some people this would be helpful to help inspire them to exercise more? The meter provides readings in either metric (Kilogram) or Imperial (Pound) units. I found it a little difficult figuring out how to switch between them, so the included manual comes in handy. There is also a thumb-screw to adjust the distance from the grip (where the fingers are placed) and the base of the handle (where the palm is) to accommodate different-sized hands. The LCD display is large and clear enough to be easy to read in at least normal intensity ambient light. Besides the measured strength, "rating", the user number and the age & gender of user, the display also is a bar graph along the left hand side of the display that shows the relative strength fluctuation during the measurement period which needs to be a minimum of 5 seconds long. It is powered by a pair of AAA batteries which are included. This is a very useful item for anyone that want to or needs to track grip strength.

Fun conversation piece
If you're looking to benchmark and track your grip strength through, say, a fitness journey or similar, than the dynamometer is likely for you. If you are, on the other hand, expecting this piece to do anything to, in and of itself, build your grip strength, then you are sadly mistaken -- this is not a piece of exercise equipment, but rather a measuring device. With that understanding out of the way, this Camry dynamometer is very good at what it does. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic makes it feel a bit "cheap" in your hand, but that perception quickly turns around once you begin to grip it. Make no mistake: this is very well built for the price point, and with a max grip strength measurement of 198lbs, it will likely give many users a significant amount of room for improvement (I myself hover around 130lbs in early testing). The metrics that the dynamometer provides are impeccable. You'll be prompted to add your age and gender, and then not only does the Camry dynamometer tell you the lbs/kg of force behind your grip, it also compares you with others in your demographic band, labeling you weak, normal, or strong. This is a good way to understand the average of someone with similar characteristics -- if you would have asked me before I got this product, I wouldn't have been able to tell you anything about the average force range. The grip adjustment is very helpful, but I'm not sure I've found the optimal positioning yet. If you begin from a "grip too closed" position (adjusted downward), you'll bump plastic before you apply much force. If you start it "grip too open" (adjusted upward), it's difficult to get a significant amount of force behind it. There's a delicate balance, and it's one that I'm not certain to have found yet. Overall, let's call it what it is; the Camry dynamometer is a pretty interesting conversation starter. It can help you track grip strength on a fitness journey, but it's not likely to shape your fitness in and of itself. When benchmarking common exercises (bench press, squats, deadlifts, etc) it's easy to attach numbers and weights to progress, but grip strength is otherwise pretty challenging to classify. Camry de-mystifies that with this product, so as long as you know what you're getting yourself into, you're certain to have a lot of fun!

Nice way to measure grip strength
I ordered the Camry Digital Hand Dynamometer to add to my home gym after using one similar to this one at a physical therapy office. This digital hand dynamometer is simple and self-explanatory to use. Although, there are instructions provided if you wish to use them. In addition, the unit comes with batteries already installed, which is excellent. The not-so-great: I couldn't find an option for L-hand and R-hand memory functions. When in the setup mode, you can select a user, their gender, and enter their age - but when you go to use the dynamometer, it doesn't give you an option to test specifically for your right hand or your left. The easiest way I can think of is to set up 2 profiles for the same user and use the first profile for your left hand and the second profile for your right-hand measurements. Then, you'd probably want to write these test results down in a notebook or log, as each time you re-do your grip strength test - it saves your most current measurement. Keeping a log will help you to see how much you've improved, or if you're declining. Despite the aforementioned, I am pretty pleased with the performance of the dynamometer, and I'm happy to have a way to measure my progress moving forward.
