Redefined our family BBQs
This has changed the way we barbeque. We are skeptical whether an electric BBQ could ever replace coal. However, when we want that smoky flavour, it can deliver. It's far easier to clean, managed, and cook with. The additional functions such as smoker are excellent. It's solid, a hefty piece of kit that needs a robust table to withstand it's weight. We've already had a lot of use, I think the features justify the price and I would strongly recommend it.

So Far VERY Good
This is really a first impression review after limited uses. Our background is we love garden meals from a BBQ and over the years have had everything from little table top Hibashis to large gas ignition kettles. This is our first experience of using anything other than normal fuel though. We were considering a Woodfire for those occasions when we just wanted a bbq meal for the two of us so not worth powering up our large kettle BBQ and maybe also as a backup for big family events when our normal BBQ is struggling with capacity but I can see the Woodfire getting a lot more use than expected. The fist impression was very good except getting the package up the stairs and into our town house garden as It is seriously heavy !! Fortunately the makers have had some sympathy for the buyer as the box lifts off it rather than try to lift it out of the box. Getting it ready for use was little more than just removing all the packing.Plan A was to place it on an existing garden work surface we use when BBQing but it seemed a little high so a quick order was placed for the Ninja base. The base is highly recommended and worth the extra as it is just right and the steel legs adjust for height. Now on to first use. We decided on some chicken breasts as an easy meal for testing but it did take a while to read and digest the instructions. I am sure they could be a lot more straightforward. In the end it was a lot easier than the instructions seemed to indicate. Fill the wood hopper and turn it on via the electrical safety device built in to the mains plug, select Woodfire on the display and plug in the temperature probe after inserting it into the chicken. Now the hard part. Select Chicken on the display and press Start. Oddly enough on a stone cold BBQ !! That's it.When the chicken reached the correct temperature the display on the front changed to GET FOOD and we enjoyed a perfectly cooked meal with a wonderful BBQ taste. Cleaning up consisted of running the grill under the tap and wiping out the inside of the lid.If there is a downside it is that it really is too easy. It seems to be a male skill to cook with BBQs while ensuring the beer and wine is at a suitable temperature and safe to drink while the partner does the boring part of getting salad and vegetables ready. Really with the Woodfire I have little to to other than spend a little more time checking the wine. Now we just need some warmer weather.

Solidly built. No gas bottle worries.
Best to buy this larger model. Heats up faster than I imagined. Been fun to use last few weeks. Nice not to worry about gas bottles or leaving something cooking. The cleaning isn't difficult but a bit of a chore sometimes. The wood pellets definitely add smokey flavour but not always needed. It's tempting to just use it as a large outdoor airfryer but that's because it seems to cook so well. Some people might miss the skills involved using a gas grill.

All good but…
Arrived within 24 hours. Really good quality product. But no instructions!!! This is a big piece of kit and could be dangerous if not used properly. You have to find the on off switch which is underneath a heavy unit. Then there is the plug that will not work without carrying out the test and reset. And when you have worked out this, you then need to work out how to cook on it which was a real pain as I wanted to use it the day we got it. Delivery amazing. Received it within 24 hours on a Sunday. Amazing. A simple quick start 1-sheet would have saved a lot of searching on my phone. Come on Ninja, for £320 a 1 page quick start instructions would not break the bank.

Ninja woodfire xl pro
After looking at purchasing a new gas BBQ I came across this product, read the reviews and looked at several YouTube videos.Decided this would suit my need more than a gas BBQ and given the prices there really wasn't that much difference in prices.Ordered it and it was delivered the next day, earlier than I'd expected which was great as we got to try it out that day.Fabulous product and cooked our sirloin steak beautifully using the temperature probe.Have used it several times now, very glad I went with this as I've been able to use it even on rainy days after making ourselves a covered cooking shelter .Have found you do need to Cook some things either less time or on medium rather than high but definitely a game changer.Easy to clean and thought can obviously be taken anywhere that you have access to electric it is quite large and fairly heavy.Looking forward to many lovely meals.

This is a fantastic little smoker! I highly recommend.
I use my smoker sometimes every day. The wood pellets can be a little expensive so better to by them in bulk. Mine lives outside full time and as you can see, I purchased the stand for it as well as the cover. I think both are a must. I'll never bother with a normal BBQ pit again. A couple important points. This is a Ninja Wood Fire Pro XL and not the Wood Fire Pro Connect. which is quite a bit more expensive just to have the bluetooth function. They are nearly exactly the same except mine is not bluetooth. However, I managed to purchase the Bluetooth TempSpike probe and it works great! The other important thing, you CAN NOT use this unit in the house in any mode under any circumstances!
