This Salicylic acid powder is easy to blend into makeup and skin care products. Be warned that a little goes a long way! I had let it sit for awhile, a touch intimidated to use it, but have enjoyed my skin appearance as a result of mixing it into my moisturizer. Next big step is to try it out in shampoo!

This bulk salicylic acid powder is a great value for making your own salicylic acid solutions and creams. The caution would be - make sure you know what you are doing. You don’t just mix this with water - you need agents to make it soluble, and agents to buffer the pH so it isn’t to acidic for your skin. If you know what you are doing, or you are able to follow a validated compounding recipe, however, this bulk powder will save you significant money over purchasing pre-prepared formulations.

This is a 1 lb plastic canister of pure cosmetic grade Salicylic Acid. The canister has a screw-on lid and the package also includes a scoop and a short set of instructions. The powder is of a fine grind, but in order for it to readily dissolve in a carrier you may wish to use a mortar and pestle to grind it into a finer powder. (Wear gloves while working with this product.) I tested the dissolution of the powder without grinding it by using 1) Castor Oil and 2) Isopropyl Alcohol. As you can see in my photos, it is not an instantaneous dissolution – so it may require grinding the powder finer, or heating the solution, or letting it set for a more extended period of time. If you are new to using salicylic acid, this ad contains a lot of good information for dissolving it and keeping yourself safe while using the product.

Much bigger than expected! Will last me awhile. When I make my face masks i add a little, has really helped my face clear up!

I removed the cellophane and removed the jar from the box. Within a minute I felt a burning sensation on my fingers. I took some doing to get it washed off. I returned it...The acid comes with warnings about wearing gloves and breathing protection. I certainly didn't expect to be burned just handling the jar.In my opinion, this material is not something that should be used by the general public.
