Not as described
This description appears to be cut and pasted from a different model. It's not a 2.4Ghz control system, it's 27Mhz. It even says so on the box it comes in. The range is considerably reduced. It's not 4 wheel drive, it's 2 wheel drive. It still serves my purposes, and at the price I won't be sending it back. But those two bits of misinformation make a big difference.Other than that,it's fairly functional. Doesn't drive over anything other than short grass, but I'm impressed that it even does that at the price.Beause it's 27Mhz you have to be within a couple of metres for it to respond to the controller, so you have to follow it around.

The Provision of Two Rechargeable Batteries Would Give Endless Fun if the Truck Didn’t Keep Stalling
The media could not be loaded. First impressions as I removed this radio controlled car from its colourful box were very favourable, but reality struck when I started using it.The Monster Truck has beautifully decorated metal panels, chunky tires and a bouncy spring suspension. The instructions are printed on the box and I have added photographs of them to this review. Two 3.7V Li-ion batteries are included in the set along with a USB charging lead. Only one battery is needed at a time and the second one provides additional running time and cross-over charging to keep the fun moving along. To install the batteries a screw has to be removed and a clip released to remove the cover. The screw will be easy to loose and difficult to remove by a child in the 3-8 years age range suggested. The battery connects by a 2-pin plug and socket arrangement which on my car was very difficult to use as the wire connecting the socket to the car was very short and a lever on the plug needed to be pressed to get it separated. It is likely this will be a potential fail point when the wire snaps. The radio controlled remote required 2x AA cells (not supplied) and a similar screw needed to be removed to gain access to the housing. There are a number of similar screws holding the remote and car together which should not be removed. Small, difficult to see, icons have been moulded into the plastic to show you the correct ones to unscrew to replace the batteries, (see photographs). With the batteries installed I turned on the car with the switch on its underside and a multicoloured LED began flashing. This LED points down; I think it would have more impact if it pointed forwards. There is no on-off switch on the remote and all that is required to get the car moving is to press the trigger. Pull back to go forward and push forwards to go in reverse - not logical, but intuitive. Steering is achieved by turning a wheel on the control, once again in the illogical direction of backwards and forwards rather than left and right. The steering is not proportional and the wheel simply operates a switch at the extremity of the its travel to click the front wheels to the left, or to the right. As with all the toy RC vehicles I have used this one moves a bit too fast for meaningful control in an average sized room, but I guess youngsters like speed over precision and the designers know it. Outdoors it is fine, you have time to steer before hitting a wall or furniture!A unique (well I haven‘t seen it before) feature of this car is its ability to produce a plume of blue smoke from its rear end. I was sceptical when I saw a picture of this on the Amazon listing and thought it was the imagination of a graphic designer running wild, however it is not a gimmick. After filling the tank with cold water, using the squirty bottle supplied, whenever the car travels forward a plume of blue vapour follows it along. Pressing a button on the remote emits a similar burst with the car stationary. I guess this effect is created using an ultrasonic nebuliser, because there is no way the water could be turned to steam the instant power is applied. This is a great toy, an attractive model and a talking point for a reasonable price, very reasonable if you apply the 15% voucher.UNFORTUNATELY these is a problem with this car. I have tried two in the hope that it was a fault specific to the one I was given for review, but the second car experienced exactly the same symptoms. The car randomly stops responding to the remote control. This affects all functions, left, right, forwards, backwards. No matter what instruction you send nothing happens. It isn’t loss of power at the car because the coloured LEDs continue flashing. After stalling the car will begin operating again at random, or if you give it a jolt, only to fail again shortly after. This is very frustrating if you are trying to control the car along a particular path, especially for children. The symptoms would indicate an intermittent connection in the radio circuit, but for the exactly same fault to be present on two different cars is unusual.Had this problem not arisen this car would be a solid five stars, but the frustration that ensues from trying to play with it in a structured way when it keeps stalling marks it down.

Not so good on wet rocks
The media could not be loaded. I love how much attention my children pay to it and it keeps them off the Xbox. They were disappointed it didn’t go over the rocks but maybe it was because it had been raining so we will continue to try this in different conditions. It doesn’t take long to charge. The controller is different to what I’m used to so that took some practice. Thanks.
