I love that the oil is from wild fish, which is where I presume the price tag comes in. They're super expensive and I'm not sure if they're 100% worth the pricetag, but I am grateful to test these as I would always try to choose the more organic/wild options for my food and supplements.

At the time of writing these Omega 3 capsules cost £115.49 for a bottle of 120 capsules so nearly £1 per capsule. This is bigger than most, which goes somewhat towards justifying the price. The recommended dose is 1 - 2 capsules per day giving a 2 - 4 month supply . So the question is what makes these 'Ultima' version capsules so special?There is no doubt that NFO make quality products and boast a plethora of quality certifications. This product is also from fish locally caught off the shores of Norway and has the highest PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) quantities of any of their locally caught products. For the Ultima version the fish oil has been converted to esterified triglycerides vs the usual ethyl ester form which makes them less prone to oxidisation and is better absorbed by the body. The other unique selling point of this version is the low TOTOX rating of 9. Without going into a full scientific explanation, TOTOX is an indication of the quality and freshness of oil products. Anything below 10 is considered to be excellent. The acceptable value for Omega 3 oils is 26 or below but the lower the rating the better the quality so the rating of this product coupled with the esterified triglycerides conversion which is only found in the highest quality and most expensive Omega 3 products, is what makes these better than your average Omega 3 supplement. They also claim to have been clinically proven to help with athletic recovery. Only time will tell if this claim translates into any noticeable difference.The product itself comes in the form of fairly large capsules, but they are easy to swallow. A single capsule gives 1050mg of PUFA and is claimed to have better bioavailability due to the esterified triglycerides mentioned above.This is clearly a very high quality top end product. Whether that makes them worth the cost is another matter. Personally I don't think I can justify the current price of this product but would consider them due to the quality if the price was significantly reduced.

These easy to swallow capsules are a good way to get some omega 3 in your system. I like that the oil is made from wild fish as opposed to farmed fish.
