A Beast In A League Of Its Own
First time ever writing a review for a product but this thing is worth it. It does everything right and it does it better than everyone else. What this vacuum sealer does better than everyone else...-Insane vacuum sealing power-Super quiet for a vacuum sealer especially considering its power-Hand latch is way more consistent and reliable than the other auto clamping vacuum sealers out there-Double seal is awesome and makes a far more reliable seal than the thin single line seals all the other vacuum sealers make-Fairly compact and looks way nicer than the other plasticy bulky models out there-Buttons and display is a lot more intuitive than most other models out there-Straight forward, easy to use, and super reliableI had bought a different vacuum sealer a couple months ago to vacuum seal sous vide bags for my carnivore diet and within about a month and a half, it stopped being able to clamp down on itself to vacuum properly. It was a $100 massive disappointment considering I only used it for about 60lbs of meat before it started having problems. Even before it had problems, the seal was thin, mediocre, and I'd often find the bags with air in them in the freezer days later because it sealed poorly (despite using compatible bags recommended by the manufacturer), the vacuum was mediocre, and it was super loud both vacuuming and just clamping down on itself. Didnt even bother using the 1 year warrenty it came with because I figured I was gonna run into the same problem in a short period of time again, and I didn't want to experience the same problems while in the middle of preparing many pounds of raw meat sitting out, waiting to be sealed. I also figured there had to be something out there that wasn't from the food saver brand that was roughly $100 and could do better job all around. Then I found the Melisse 6120 which did exactly that and more. After comparing all of the highly reviewed vacuum sealers on amazon for a second time, I started noticing that almost all of the non food saver models on amazon, all had multiple brand names slapped on them. Meaning most vacuum sealer models on amazon are being made by some no name company and that brands would source it from them and throw their name on it and pretend like they're the manufacturer. My previous vacuum sealer I mentioned that died after a month and a half was one of these models. You can find many vacuum sealers on amazon here that are identical to the one I had, under multiple different brand names. I picked Melisse because it was the only non food saver vacuum sealer model I found, that didnt seem to have any rebranded listings here on amazon. When you open the box, there's a letter in their too from the owners, in which it describes some mom's who had a somewhat similar journey but decided to take it upon themselves to make a better vacuum sealer than what's out there. The letter also mentions that they're looking to hire more engineers to take their product to the next level, so as an engineer, here are a few minor improvements that would be nice to see that would put this product even farther ahead of everyone else than it already is...-A beeper that goes off when it finishes the sealing countdown-A way to program settings (even using the current buttons) to adjust beeper volume and to add a cooldown time to the countdown timer when sealing (seal seems to look slightly cleaner and more uniform if I leave it in for a few more seconds after the timer finishes)-Different stickers that are easier to peel off (being OCD, I wanted to remove all of the directions stickers so it would be nice and sleek looking but had to scrub and scrub and scrub with clorox and scotchbrite to fully remove the sticker and residue from the pump hose sticker, and the two stickers located in the roll cutter thing inside)-A retractable power cable to hide extra length would be nice-A lighter snap to keep the top open easier as the whole thing sometimes tips back a bit in order to open it and snap the top into place so it doesn't fallOther than those few minor details, this thing is in a league of it's own and hits all the marks. Its way better than the $100 rebranded model I had before, and it's way better than the food saver model my parents have. 11/10 Melisse is the best brand out there I've used and it's not even close.

Great unit, manual a bit confusing
The media could not be loaded. My first confusing impressions after opening...Appears to work well and be a great machine but I outlined a few points..it appears updates/changes have been made to the unit without updating the manual.Manual has different info than what's posted here online with Amazon.1. Only comes with two small rolls, not two big ones as their instructional video shows for the V61202. Video also shows a wet pumping water storage box underneath the unit , but there is none, only the drip tray that comes out.3. Manual says let it cool 25 minutes after 20 consecutive seals ...online here says has cooling technology allows up to 200 consecutive seals?4. Manual shows unit is rated power is 120w, but underneath the unit it says 140w?5. While the video shows equipment to seal jars in reality there are no attachments, they should clarify that. There is a hose but nothing to hook to that goes on jars, a kit must be purchased seperately. In my video I mentioned it goes to normal suction by default in dry mode .... But it goes to gentle by default if the "moist" option is chosen.I personally like to seal steaks by folding a paper towel several times to make a strip next to the meat to absorb fluid when vaccuming so I can set it on normal suction without worrying about the heating strip getting wet.I've read it still seals well if wet but I haven't tested as I don't like sucking fluid/blood etc into the units tray. The "pulse mode" simply draws suction till you let off the button "then it holds that suction" and you can then immediately hit the seal button to seal without further vacuum ..is useful for fragile things like biscuits, bread, fruit. The vacuum is fast but the seal takes about 10 seconds....I guess that's better than going too fast & melting a hole in the bag!. :)I do recommend reading the manual to get understanding of the functions...it's easy only once you know it.

It sucks therefore it's good.
My wife loves it. Lots of features. Quieter than the last one. It is bigger than other ones. What can I say...it sucks.

Compatible with Food Saver attachments!
I love this sealer! I previously had a different sealer with vacuum attachment and wanted to find a new sealer that could also use it. Most did not but this one does and it works great with my old food saver vacuum canister attachment. Highly recommend.

Very good machine
All in all I'm very happy with this. The two foam seals, one upper and one lower, can come unseated easily and should be checked before each use.The drain tray is hard to wipe clean and doesn't hold very much. There's a learning curve involved with sealing wet items. Care must be taken to not draw much liquid to the top of the bags before sealing. If there's liquid up there, it won't seal. But once you get the hang of it, it works quite well. All in all a good value. Study construction. Very pleased.
