Such a sweet, mesmerizing little lava light! The changing colors are beautiful, the fluid is clear and the lava has great flow changing shapes quickly. It doesn’t provide much light but is great to watch. Totally worth the low price.

I bought this for my 12 year old for his birthday. We had a discussion about not touching the base once it was on due to it getting hot, but he alerted me within 10 minute of us plugging it in that it had a weird smell. Sure enough, it smelling like burning rubber. I took the glass off of the base—the wax had yet to even melt—and the base was smoking—just like you can see in the video another reviewer shared. Will be returning immediately.

Pros + small space lamp, beautiful color changing yet natural when off, uses less electricity than traditional LavaLamps, reasonable price.Cons - Smells bad and smokes on initial 2hr start up then dissipates, now not an issue (suggest you start this up for 4+hrs in a very well ventilated room/area), can’t control colors or speed of change. HOT BASE!!!!

Don't get me wrong - this is a great lamp. This is the first commercially produced lava lamp that I've seen that runs on a ceramic heating disc and LED lights. This might actually be the direction all future lava lamps will be heading. I was really excited to receive it. I chose the pink one. Here is issue I have, as someone who has recently become obsessed with lava lamps: 1) the LEDs are great when the lights are out, but you can hardly see the effect when the lights are on. 2) if any one component in the lamp dies, the whole lamp dies with it. The benefit of lamps with bulbs is that they can be changed and the lamp continues on. Once LEDs and ceramic discs are involved, the lamp has planned obsolescence and will be heading to the land fill. The great thing about your average bulb-facing lamp is that you can fix them, modify them, refurbish them if you are so inclined. Your lamp could go on indefinitely.So is this a good lamp? Yes, absolutely. Is it giftable? For the right person. Is it my favorite lamp? Not by a long shot.

So this thing is actually extremely nice and pretty when you plug it it. Works great, except it gets extremely hot so don't touch it. The bad thing is now after about a month of regular use (it gets turned off etc) the wax is all stuck to the sides and doesn't really bubble anymore.

The teen I purchased this for absolutely loves it!! He says it's great. Would purchase again
