Lightweight racing flat
As another reviewer stated, this is a racing flat instead of a spike (confirmed in the pictures). I was going for a flat as it is more versatile, and this suits my needs. It provides close to zero arch support, which to me enhances the ground feel. The weight makes this a fast shoe. This shoe is narrower than most.

Not as good as the XC2
I had a pair of the Shay XC2 which took me through 3 Tough Murders, a couple of trail races, street races, and a couple hundred miles of training. The XC2 eventually blew a hole in the instep on the side, and they fit me a little loose (i bought a half size larger than my sneaker size). I bought the XC3 at my regular shoe size, they were snug at the toes but WAY to tight width wise. I sent them back and got the half size larger, still a little loose for my liking, but ok. One of the nice things about the XC3 is that they've added a rubber film of reinforcement over the parts of the shoe that are at risk for tearing (like the instep). On the downside, the tongue of the shoe is only sewn on one side. It feels like it bunches up at the knuckles of my toes a little bit regardless of how I try to maneuver it. So far they are holding up OK. I hope to get the same mileage or better from them.

Bought for my son for track
These shoes did run a bit small. I had however expected this from the other reviews so we ordered them a half a size larger and they fit wonderfully. My son runs distance for track and says they are great, very light and responsive.

Nice look and serves the purpose.
The price was excellent for youth spring track season. Be sure to order a 1/2 size larger because I had to send the first pair back. They made it through the whole season (practice and meets) without tearing.

Not for Me, but for Others?
The weight of the shoe is great, and quite thin. I'm returning the shoe because the size is slightly too small but more importantly (suggested by many to order 1/2 size more, but still quite tight for me), there's mini spikes on the bottom. I knew they were cross country shoes but they're not as flat as I had hoped for.

Favorite pair of racing flats
Favorite pair of racing flats. if you are a forward runner, touching the ground with the balls of your feet all the way, you will enjoy these. Ultra light, snug fit

I've owned a pair of Saucony's before and they were one of my favorite running shoes ever, and so far these pair of Shay XC3 are continuing the same trend!! I'm also in love with the color scheme, they look great on feet and very different from all other footwear I see in the gym... Recommendation, when purchasing Saucony shoes consider ordering a 1/2 - a full size bigger than your normal shoe size! Being aware of this I order a 10.5 (I'm regularly a size 10), but I had to exchange my 10.5 for an 11.0, which fits perfectly! For the low cost, extremely light-weight, and style excellent shoe!
