The Bell Hauntingly Tolls
Editor Nick Moretti collects the works of several researchers/writers in the mysterious and chilling tale of a poltergeist that allegedly terrorized a family in Robertson County, near Adams, Tennessee....and may still be leaving some very haunting reminders today of its power. From 1817-1820, John Bell, Sr., and his family had their lives slowly ripped apart by this "witch," which started when Bell shot at - but failed to hit - an "animal" that had a head of a rabbit and a body of a dog. This led to sightings of an apparition, bizarre assaults on family members by an invisible force and a voice which became more defiant, seemingly feeding off of fear.In December 1820 Bell, Sr., died after ingesting a liquid from a strange vial. It was a poison and - during the funeral - it was reported that the Bell Witch could be heard taunting the pastor. The spirit - based on a threat it gave - returned to the property in 1935 and continues to have a ghostly presence. The anthology is an excellent overview that covers a number of topics concerning this bell that eerily tolls in mysterious ways.
