This is the Ultimate Insider's Guide to TV!
I loved this book. If you like behind the scenes information about game shows, the people in that business or simply want a sense of how TV really works behind the scenes, this is your book. I could not put it down. Randy has captured stories in a very readable, relatable, humorous way. Give that man a case of Turtle Wax and some Rice-a-Roni - The San Francisco Treat. And thanks for playing our game!

Very interesting
Really enjoyed this book - he tells stories about various stars that I had not heard before. The writing was occasionally disorganized, but well worth reading.

Best in Class of All Behind-the-Scenes Books I Have Read
Rarely does a book speak equally to both fans and industry insiders. Randy delivers great stories while never pandering, nor sensationalizing. He never talks down to the reader, no matter whether you have experience in the business or not. I have shelves full of books on show-business: the crafts, technical books, fan books, kiss-n-tell, memoires, essays and more. This stands out and really delivers genuine stories-behind-the-stories of the television industry. He writes about the golden age in a non-romantic way; no gauzy, worshipful points of view, this is straight-out the real deal. You feel like you can smell the dark stages and feel the bright lights. The people, the characters, are three-dimensional. This is equally accessible if you have never read a backstage book before, (and this will set your bar high), and all the more if you already have an understanding of the business. I am so grateful to Randy for his long career and genuine hard work it took to get all this down in one place. His writing tone is so impressive because of his humility and pragmatic approach to show business. This is the real deal.

Great inside look at the TV industry from an insider who was there!
Randy West had a front row seat to the network television industry during its most productive and amazing years. He walked the hallways of amazing places like NBC Burbank and CBS Television City and was a part of production on so many of our favorite shows. This book is a must-read for anyone who grew up in the world of only 3 networks, when great shows like “Hollywood Squares”, “$64,000 Pyramid” and “Press Your Luck” were must-see shows five days a week. Great book!

Behind the scenes
I enjoyed this book. There were some sad chapters in this book, including the suicide of Ray Combs, former host of Family Feud. Well written.

Personal and Inside View Here
Randy West has and is part of the Television history. His view, relationships and information make for an enlightening and informative read about game shows and those that hosted them...and still do. His writing is both factual and personal, offering a warmth and chuckle at times. While I have been part of "the scene" in a small way, reading about it all has been both nostalgic and offered new insights.

This is a very well written book and I highly enjoyed reading it. This book contains many stories from behind the scenes of television. Randy West offers many stories that are thoroughly researched and in many cases, happened with him in attendance. This is a must have for any fans of television, past or present.
