This has to be one of the best printers in this price bracket. I took a few photo prints on Kodak 180GSM paper to check the photo print quality. The borderless prints came out so good that if the same quality is maintained over time I will completely skip photo prints from professionals. It’s that good (at least to my eyes)! All the other types of prints are as expected out of a good quality consumer grade printer for home use. Coming to the nitty gritties, the wireless connection setup can be a bit tricky since the whole procedure involves connecting the printer to the mobile device or your PC wirelessly and then connecting the printer to the WiFi router. The problem is with lack of a proper owner’s manual for these procedures in the box the printer comes in. The owner’s manual needs to be downloaded from Brother Website which, though doesn’t sound too difficult, but the whole experience of doing all this was not a very pleasant experience to me. I found the website and the owner’s manual a bit convoluted and the wireless connection setup did not go without hickups. There were a few failed attempts while trying to connect with the mobile phone though PC wireless connection was easy. However, after the WiFi connectivity sorted, printing from PC and my mobile devices has been a breeze. Print, scanning, copying, wireless connection stability, response time for print command via WiFi etc., have all been extremely good. The printer comes with PC drivers on a CD. Since CD is not much of a thing nowadays, I stored the CD in a ‘cool dark place’ to never return to and downloaded all the necessary drivers for the PC from Brother website. There are four levels of print quality that one can select while printing photos from PC namely: Photo quality, Fine, Normal and Eco mode. There are also two types of print media to choose from for photos namely: Glossy paper and Normal Paper. The peculiar thing is that the Android app for printing from mobile devices does not have ‘Photo Quality’ mode! The printer does have some issues. For one, I’m not a big fan of an enclosed tray for paper loading. Though this would remove some of that clutter from front of the printer and may help prevent dust from getting into the papers, loading paper into the tray is a real chore. The situation is aggravated due to the temperamental nature of the manual feed tray. The manual feed tray only takes one page at a time and has to be fed ‘precisely aligned’ and seems to have mind of its own to the point where the procedure renders it almost useless. So, if you plan to do back to back printing, which the printer cannot do automatically, you will find yourselves opening and closing the main document feed tray multiple times. That said, this is a very capable printer at the price point and pack almost everything that one would need for home use. The print quality is excellent, its fast and the prints come margin-aligned perfectly all the time. My only worry at this point is what happens when the machine ages. As per the device’s owner’s manual, the printer has to be kept plugged to wall outlet all the time even when not in use so that it can do the necessary head cleaning every once in a while. So, I’m going to keep the machine plugged to the power and keep my fingers crossed.

Been using it for around 2 months now. Listing down the Pros and Cons: Pros: 1. Strong and sturdy built. 2. Easy to setup. Ink filling was very easy and so was the wifi setup. 3. Print quality is good. Both color and b/w prints. 4. Tested one print on photo paper and the quality was satisfactory. 5. While printing through wifi, at times the print speed is pretty fast and at times it lags as well. Seems it depends on the wifi quality. 6. Easy to operate through phone. Cons: 1. The manual feed tray at the back side is absolutely useless and pathetic. You need to place paper in a very precise manner. Slight here and thr, machine shows an error and print does not come. 90% of the time, you get an error while trying to print basis paper placement from this tray. Even the company person who had visited for demo told not to use the back tray as its useless and everyone complains. 2. If your requirements is back to back print on regulat basis, suggest spend some more amd take the higher version of printer which has back to back printing option. Its a real pain to manually do back to back print in this machine. 3. At times it takes ages to take a print while using wifi. Could be because of wifi stength. Not sure though. For demo, do call the company within 30 days of purchase, else they will decline post 30 days.

One of the worst printer I have seen in my life. Print quality 0. Colour print minus 5. Durability: minus 5. Printer got repaired 6-7 times within a year with repeated problem of power not turning on. Everytime they got it fixed which works for 4-5 days again same problem. You will get fed up by calling their customer care. Now it got sam problem in Jan 14 and when I filed the complaint they say your warranty is expiring on 17. Visit charges 650. Now pls answer is it worth to pay eventhough u know problem will not be resolved. And they will charge high for repair. I dunped the printer instead of using it . Pure waste of money.

Always best but the mini tray coming out of the paper tray to hold the printed paper is too fragile & delicate
