Large Yarn Ball Winder, Jumbo Metal Fiber/Wool/String Ball Winder Hand Operated Capacity 10-Ounce

I use this to wind scraps over 4oz. It’s not the expensive, fancy model but if you are a casual crochet or knitter you will love having this for larger scraps. I like to center pull skeins from the store and this allows me to wind what is left into large center pull balls easily. I recommend putting rubber cabinet bumpers under the base so it doesn’t do harm to the mounting surface. This also allows you to clamp it a bit harder for added stability. Mine does not move when winding. It’s a bit loud but that doesn’t matter to me. All the gears are metal and the unit is very solid. I looked for a long time trying to find a balance between price and quality. I am very happy with this wonder. I am confident it will be the last one I will ever need.

Love this thing! It's a little awkward to get the hang of, and you have to find something you can hook it onto that you don't mind scathing up. But once you do it is so useful. Has saved me so many yarn tangle headaches! I've had it for about a year, and I've had to grease the hinges a few times, but other than that I haven't had any problems.

I have one of the small plastic winders, and it's fine for small balls of yarn, but this works great for regular and large sized balls (and let's face it, a lot of worsted-weight skeins just don't fit on the little ones), and it's sturdy and smooth and just overall less fussy than the small ones. Wish I had bought it sooner! I will never make my own hand-wound balls again. This is far superior in both how you do it and in the end result. Love it.

I love this thing. Winds my yarn in 1/4 of the time it takes to do it manually. It will wind a regular skein of yarn with no problem. I did put a rubber band on the bottom of the longer arm to keep it from tapping on the table, but that did not detract from my use of it.

This yarn winder is awesome to use. I love mine. It does tend to move around and I have to stabalize it with whatever I have handy siting around me at time I am using it, but over all I am pleased with the durability and studiness of the yarn winder.

This was easy to set up and use. I had to completely take a sweater apart to fix it and this winder helped me do so quickly ending up with one large yarn cake. The cake was easy to use to redo the sweater.

I never thought winding yarn could be fun. The cat comes running when she hears me using the winder she likes to watch. I'm waiting for her to attack it or me when in use.

I THINK I GOT A LEMON. MAYBE EVEN A RETURN. THE PACKAGING SEEMED TO BE OPEN. NEVER COULD GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY. THE GEARS WERE ALWAYS GRINDING AND THE FEED WAS ALWAYS FALLING OFF. I AM FAMILIAR WITH WINDERS AND EVEN HAD OTHER YARNIES TRY TO GET IT GOING. ITS A SHAME, BECAUSE IT IS WELL CONSTRUCTED AND I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO USING IT. SO,,,,,,, STILL IN THE MARKET FOR A QUALITY WINDER. UGH

Very pleased with my ball winder. Winds the yarn into a nice neat cake with no tangles, which makes crocheting using the centre pull string easy to use. would recommend it to others who are in the market for a reasonably priced product.
