Firefly - A Celebration (Anniversary Edition)

The book is a collection of the three Companions "Volume 1, 2 & Still Flying", which I already possess. They consist of scripts for every single episode of the show + they provide lots of interesting background information about the cast, props, fanbase and even some short stories about the characters we all love so much!Since I already own the three companions, one might ask for the reason I bought this book. The answer is simple and can be broken down into three points:First: The whole layout is fantastic. The fake-leather cover in combination with the embossed letters is a real eye-catcher that looks very noble in the book-shelve.Second: This special version comes with some high-quality photographs from the original cast. It also includes a prop-replica of one of the bank notes used in the show, printed on high-quality paper. This bank note looks and feels like real money from the verse. The only thing you could hold against it is the fact that it looks almost too shiny. Like it came fresh from the press... some sort of "used-look" would make it look even more realistic but even the fresh print is a cool prop to have for every fellow Browncoat out there.Third: The price Amazon offered this book was way too good to let this opportunity pass. Especially for a fanboy like myself...So if you love the show but hesitated to buy the companions: Here is your chance to catch them all at once and get some nice goodies on top! And if you already own the companions: The content of the book won't be any big news for you but the get-up might convince you to buy it anyway. I did not regret the bargain :-)

I may be a late arrival to the Firefly / Serenity 'Verse, but as with most people who have seen the series, I love it. There's just something that when I rewatch it that puts a big smile on my face. And so not having the previous Illustrated Companion Volumes and Still Flying that this book collects, I just had to get it, and just in time for the 10th anniversary too.This book is gorgeous. From the faux leather effect binding when you first have it in your hands and when start thumbing through the 544 pages, you'll know you have a book that is loving crafted and compiled by people that loved Firefly.The pages are packed with in-depth interviews with creator Joss Whedon and the cast and crew of the beloved series, plus full, uncut shooting scripts to all the episodes - with notes from cast and crew about each episode. Lots of rare photos of the cast, crew, props and costumes, as well as production art previously unavailable elsewhere are included also. There's also new stories from the writers of the original episodes too.And exclusively for this edition, there are nine portrait photographs of the cast and a facsimile of one of the bank notes used in the series.So if you're a fan of the show, and particularly if you haven't already got the three Firefly Companion Volumes that are collected here, I would definitely recommend getting this. Shiny!

This is an excellent book for those, like me, who love the Firefly 'verse.It has everything you may want in a single place.Including all the series scripts (and some interesting discrepancies with the actual aired dialog).With each you get all sorts of extra details like descriptions of the props used and comments by the actors.And I'm not talking about throwing in a couple of photos and be done with it.Some of the props are so detailed you realise the amount of love and care the producers put into this show.For example (page 81): when Inara offers her "papers" to the authorities, these actually contain meaningful text ("Companion Privileges & Principals - PIN 5304747 - NAME: INARA", followed by the full Terms & Conditions)). Now, why would someone go to the trouble to write that down when it is obviously clear that the spectators are never going to see it ?As I was reading through the book, something kept nagging me: where the heck was Vera ?It is strange that for a book so rich in detail there seemed to be no image or even description of one of the most iconic props in the show (second only to "the hat").Finally, in page 290, there it was in full glorious colour and I could finally let a out a breath of relief.In short, this book is not only good value money-wise, it is also excellent value from the fan point of view.The show may have been cancelled, but Serenity keeps flying...

Lovely book, fake leather cover is a nice touch (quite literally, it feels really nice).The content is great, loads of scripts, backstage photos and perhaps my favourite is the photos of the props and costume design.I bought this for my wife as she's an uber fan, but we've all enjoyed it.Awesome book and the one I got was a fantastic price. Pre used but in excellent condition which included all the extras in the back pocket.If you like Firefly, this really is a fantastic buy.

I bought this for my husband who is a huge fan of Firefly and sci-fi in general. He has enjoyed it immensely since purchase, and went back to it many times. I am a huge Firefly fan myself though not as much as my other half, so I feel I can offer something of a more unbiased review. It is clear that this book has been crafted with love as a tribute to the show; every page is beautifully designed, and the interviews and excerpts from the cast and crew are highly detailed, highly interesting, and highly amusing. The inclusion of the pictures of the Serenity crew and prop banknotes is also a great touch. I admit I was dubious about whether this book was worth the price but I ensure you that is was well worth the money.

Very slick book with a lovely cover,and interesting background reading and photos inside. The way is is listed alongside the 3 associated graphic tales implies that these are the 3 tales you get inside this book. However that is not the case - these are 3 completely different short stories.

It's all about the show, And how it was made, not a compilation of the stories.

Ein unglaubliche tolles und wertiges Buch! Schön, in ledergebunden mit goldener Schrift, groß und 540 Seiten schwer. Alles, was man sich jemals an Infos gewünscht hat: sehr viele Fotos, Interviews, Drehbücher der Episoden, bis hin zu Skizzen der Kostüme. Poster der Hauptfiguren und ein Geldschein der designten Währung. Ein Muss für Fans! Einziges für mich persönlicher Nachteil: ich hätte die Drehbücher lieber als Taschenbuch, damit ich sie mit mir rumschleppen und öfter lesen kann.

Eu já esperava muito do livro, mas ainda assim ele me surpreendeu!Livros muito grandes geralmente são incômodos de ler quando passam da metade, pois as páginas insistem "pular" para um lado ou outro, mas o acabamento é fantástico e as páginas ficam paradas sem danificar a costura (outra coisa que acontece bastante com livros desse porte). A qualidade de impressão é absurda de boa e a capa, imitando couro, é outro detalhe fantástico.Esse é um livro essencial para qualquer Browncoat. A big damn book for big damn heros! Roteiros completos dos episódios, entrevistas e toneladas de informações, não tem como não amar.Pode sair caro pra comprar aqui no Brasil, mas definitivamente vale cada centavo!

Recopila los tres "companions" que Titán editó sobre esta serie en un único volumen con tapa dura imitando a piel y el título grabado en relieve.Describe a los personajes, viene con entrevistas y es una especie de diccionario visual sobre las naves, armas, planetas,... al estilo de los que la editorial DK publica sobre Star Wars, por ejemplo. También vienen íntegros los guiones de todos los capítulos.Calidad de impresión muy buena. Una gran obra para una una serie que ya es de culto y que por fin se puede ver en España a través de Netflix.
