Ravish: The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty

Oh how I dearly would have LOVED to have been compelled to bequieth a 5-star endorsement to this genuinely WONDERFUL modern, truely 'adult reading only' rendition of the classic 'Sleeping Beauty' fairy-tale romance!!! To say that it its story, and quality of writing makes this one a serious page burner is nothing short of understatement...I literally CONSUMED the entire book in a single day, and couldn't hardly put it down at all from one chapter to the next! The plot was, I thought very well laid out in full...the characters, both primary and secondary, well written and described for the reader...altogether believable and easily connectable with reader as well! Almost as importantly, in an adult erotic romance novel, there is a very nearly perfect balance of 'story' and 'passionate sexual consumation' provided...truely romantic, empassioned lovemaking between the 'hero' and 'heroine' that never once begins to come off as overly graphicly depicted, yet still remains steamy and 'draws the reader in' with its depiction as a natural part of their ever growing romance! Indeed, if I've any complaint what-so-ever, if I obviously must, else I'd have given the 5-star rating I'd have liked to give, rather than the 3-stars I at last decided to 'Ravish'...it would have to be, as I've downgraded several other romance novels for similar reasons, that the sex itself, and it's senarios remain far to consistantly 'missionary' and ALMOST 'purely vanilla' between the lovers throughout the book. Considering the truly BEAUTIFULLY established 'PRIVATE dream locale' the lovers are shareing between the two of them ONLY, and NO OTHER EYES what-so-ever intimately spying in on their tropical 'love nest'...almost EXCLUSIVLY remaining confined within the walls of 'heroines' resort hotel suite for their lovemaking seemed more than unbelievably rediculous! I mean COME ON, give me a break!!! Given a 'super hot STUD' and an almost nymphomaniacal 'cant get enough of it' seriously SEXY 'I WANT YOU INSIDE ME EVERYWHERE' little California beach string-bikini HOTTIE, keeping their sexaul activities always confined to her BED...and for the most part basicly old fashioned missionary??? You've GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! Where's the playful skinny-dippen exhibitionistc lovemaking under moonlit skys in the oceans shallows, the raw 'gotta have it now' very passionate rear-entry bent-over, making her take it deep and hard from behind in the oversized shower or hot-tub? Or the good long hard rear-entry enthusiastic empassioned steamy love connection on the beach during the full light of a cloudless day? Come-on Ms Yardley, don't be so shy as to make it TRUELY romanticly inspiring, as it should well have been!!! And while I'm at it, despite some readers sexual objections, and even the fact that the 'heroine' is described as purely virginal, and never previously taken a lover...this IS supposed to be a MODERN and CURRENT DAY retelling of the sleeping beauty story, and the heroine is described as having VERY CLEARLY stated she WANTED and CRAVED to have her OBVIOUSLY experienced, somewhat more mature and worldly wise lover to TEACH HER in all forms of lovemaking...and I'm sorry if some might find it at all objectionable, but as many are well aware, genuinely PASSIONATE and LOVING anal intercourse shared between trusting lovers can be, and quite frequently is the ABSOLUTELY most heart-binding sexual lovemaking bond any pair of lovers could POSSIBLY ever share with one another as a 'couple'!!! Quite frankly, I'd have genuinely anticipated that 'hero' might well have even incorporated some playful love-spanking play, perhaps incorporating SOME use of toys, and maybe even a bit of light bondage-sex along with making love to her in a highly passionately love consumated, strictly backdoor, wholly emplanted, anally clenched embrace with his virginally unexperienced lover! And perhaps even again, going in the the backdoor at the pinnicle their 'spiritual unification ceremony' before the voodoo 'spirits', as undeniable proof of the completeness and full worthiness of their 'spiritual bond'! So WHY was ther such a complete and TOTAL ommission made by the authoress to fullfilling the 'heroines' RAW DESIRES to be COMPLETELY filled with her lovers sexual earthy connection to her in all ways possible, and truely expected...that all inclusive 'no-holes-barred' anal-sex 'connection' that in reality seemed to make the 'soul-mate' relationship to be not so nearly all-inclusively believable by its obvious absence? Indeed, I was almost a bit shocked at the more than somewhat excessive tameness of the voodoo priestess' own ritual 'couplings' with her attending male studs in the menage' activitys as described too. Granted too, absolutely NO reference of ANY type of birth control protection is EVER mentioned as being used...though quite honestly speaking, all circumstaces being FAIRLY taken under consideration, I'd never have anticipated any being used either!!! Ok, yeah, that I had a few objections to the sex scenes not going nearly far enough in their erotic 'sizzle' and descriptiveness as quite clear to one and all now. That said, the book as romance erotica is very very well written throughout, and an EXCELLENT choice WITHOUT QUESTION for readers seeking an honest to goodness PAGE BURNER thats vitually IMPOSSIBLE to set asside from BEGINNING TO END for all adult erotica romance readers...both male and female, SO BUY IT for its STORYLINE and ROMANCE STORY ALIKE!!!

I REALLY wish there was more character development. Dialogue and reactions are what primarily irked me the most about this tale. Rory, Jacob, and all the secondary characters appeared more 2D than any other book I've read in a while. Not to say that I'm necessarily flaming this book, mind you, but I just find it hard to believe that everyone could live happily ever after when 75% of the book was about sex.Then again, most of the story was based upon the dream world. Maybe that's why I feel so skeptical about some of the reactions? Rory and Jacob admitting their love for each other just felt the most random... almost as if Yardley was trying to justify all the dream sex the two had, and to strengthen the supposed bond the two shared. I don't know. I enjoy reading sex scenes just as much any other person who reads books by authors, but this book. I don't know. Maybe it was Yardley's writing style. Maybe because other authors add a bit more plot and actually build the relationship a bit more. I can't pin my reasoning for not enjoying this book to one particular aspect.If you're looking for a steamy read, then this is definitely the book for you. If you want something a little more substantial, I suggest having an open mind when you crack this book open.

Kind of strange. Certainly not for everyone. As a compulsive reader I finished the book. Hot coma sex in spirit world?????

I just couldn't get into this book. I wish I knew why. The writing is solid and the mechanics of the craft are strong, but I didn't connect with the characters.

A very fast read, I couldn't put it down. The author grabs you in the first paragraph. Fast paced and exciting. Worth the read.

This was a story like none Ive read before. I highly suggest it. Without vulgarity it was very, very sexy. Very well written. 50 Shades was a good story but poorly written...of course in my opinion. The "sex" in 50 shades was not very sexy...at least to me. Cathy Yardley hit a home run with this novel!

I'm sorry, but this was a boring book. Only the end was the least bit interesting. There could have been so much more to the plot, but the writing was fairly well done.
