Absolutely the best so-called budget monitor from Viltrox. It’s bright (1200! Nits) , fully featured with every conceivable viewing aid (peaking, false colours, vector scopes etc). It’s also got an SD card for loading 3d Luts. It comes with an integral sunshade/screen protector, a Sony compatible battery, complete with led indicators, top quality arri style monitor connector, a fantastic hard case with a brace of HDMI leads and a touch screen. Buy one before the price goes up to reflect its true worth.

My Leica Q3 although offering stunning video capabilities does not have an LCD which you can face towards you, so for self talking head shots I needed a monitor facing me as the subject. The price / performance ratio of this product is spot-on and the supplied battery which can be charged from a decent PSU, using the supplied USB / USB-C lead is excellent. The clip-on sun visor is very effective and the build quality of the unit is very nice. I leave this on all the time and when closed it provides excellent screen protection. The supplied hard carry case is also of very nice quality. Note that the Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable as stated in the advert, is no longer supplied with the unit and is now replaced with a full sized HDMI to HDMI cable, which meant I had to wait a few days for a separately ordered cable to be delivered. Although it's been impossible to obtain in Ireland a spare battery from the supplier, I have found a Dublin based supplier of the SmallRig NP-F550 USB-C battery, which has a 33% higher capacity than the original Viltrox battery. The one irritation I have is that the HDMI In and Out sockets are mounted on the bottom edge of the device, so I had to order a 90 degree HDMI to HDMI adapter in order to neatly route the HDMI cable to the camera, without it scraping against the top of the camera. It loses a star because of the HDMI placement and the decision to not include a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable, despite that's what is advertised.

A superb screen, really bright, well made and good value.

An excellent monitor, and a very good build quality for the price.

I’ve been using the Viltrox DC-550 5.5″ camera monitor on several shoots now, and it’s genuinely impressed me for the price. The 1200 nit high-brightness screen makes it incredibly easy to see my footage even in bright outdoor conditions — something essential for run-and-gun work and outdoor filming. The touchscreen interface is responsive and intuitive, allowing quick adjustments without fumbling through menus, which speeds up my workflow on set.

So this works well, its build is actually pretty solid considering the price and one of the great things about these Viltrox monitors is the cover pops up and is really ridgid - a lot of these field monitors come with a filmsy bit of plastic that velcros on - whereas this stays clipped (though can be taken off) and folds and therefore acts as a screen protector as well. The negative would be that the screen quality itself isn't amazing - it will see you through, but noticed it really doesnt work well in low light and with focus peaking on - really hard to see what you are looking at.

Ottimo schermo di supporto per la mia reflex nikon 5300 ben fatto molte funzioni ( in inglese ma intuitive) rapporto qualità e prezzo molto buono .. un buon supporto per una visione migliore per fotografare.. guardate i vari video su you tube ne vale la pena

I don’t understand how Viltrox can sell these at this price. Excellent bang for your buck. Bought to replace Atomos Shinobi. It was a gamble and it paid off. Other than durability and build, it’s better than the Shinobi in every way.

I have a macro set up table for my smaller pictures of like insects and leaves and all kinds of small little things and my eyes are really not that good so I got this to add to my macro table so I can visually see. it does get in a really good picture very clear and vivid colors it makes it a whole lot easier I really like it and I highly recommend it.
