This is a good hiking or light weight rod. Going after some small panfish, small trout or bass. There is a lot of action and finesse on it. I like it for light weight tackle in general. Not for a big buzzbait and a 10in crawdad dangling off it. I put a small 1000 class reel on it and the setup works well. It comes with a zip up hard case for the rod. It was good just by itself. The guides are legit fuji guides which are good quality.

This rod looks and feels high quality - the last 6 inches of the tip is tiny thin...I hope it is strong...will find out soon on the water. Very easy casting with a bfs reel and definitely stiff with fast action. Already ordered a second one....super super light Update - I have 4 of these now. They are a lot of fun to fish with. Unbelievably strong for such a short light rod. The tip is very strong... bent the rod almost double accidentally and it did not break. Handled a 17 inch smallmouth without issue. At this great price I am fighting the urge to try the 3'11 rod.

I don't typically like rods shorter than 6'0". The only exception to this so far has been (coincidentally) the 5'5" Handing Wandering ultralight rod (which is an EXCELLENT rod). I also really like the (completely unrelated brand) 6'0" Mavllos Plume rod, specifically because of it's dramatic/fast taper, but unfortunately I could never receive that rod unbroken in shipping (tried 3x). I haven't seen a similar rod as the Mavllos Plume before or since...until I found this Handing Star Blade. The Handing Star Blade has the same fast taper, but it's only 4'7", and I previously only really liked 6'0" or longer rods. Since I really like the 5'5" Handing Wandering rod, I decided to give the even shorter Handing Star Blade a try, and I'm definitely glad I did. This is such a fun rod to fish! And despite being a much shorter rod at only 4'7" than I usually prefer, I'm now definitely starting to consider more short rods like this one. The fast taper makes this rod feel (at least to me) more like a light/fast rather than ultralight/fast, but it definitely has ultralight flex to it with even just a moderate sized fish on it. I think it's the fast taper that also gives it a very strong backbone for fighting even larger fish, especially for such a short rod. I'm sold! I will definitely consider other shorter rods in the future! I currently own three Handing rods: 6'0" Handing Magic L light/fast, 5'5" Handing Wandering ultralight/mf, and 4'7" Handing Star Blade. All are excellent BFS rods. The photos are all from my first fishing trip with Handing Star Blade with the largest fish being 3lbs. The Star Blade handled fighting/landing it perfectly.

This has been hands down, my favorite ultralight rod i have purchased. It is super lightweight and worked great with the also super lightweight giu-99 reel.

I love to crappie fish and was hoping that this would be the perfect rod for that. I have purchased MANY ultra light rods and I have to say that this one is not really what I expected. The handle is very small, so for an adult, it just feels off. The last eye is extremely small as well. The pole is so thin at the end, I wonder if a larger fish will break it. The case is super nice. It is very sturdy and well made. I will be testing out this rod to see how it performs but I suspect my grand kids will be using it more than I will. All in all, it is still a decent pole for the price.
