Harcostar Child Safe Water Butt (227 Litre)ONLY

There should have been a water butt stand and rain diverters kit with it but only the water butt was delivered so I'm happy with the item but now I've got to spend extra money on buying the water butt stand and the rain diverter kit that's why I've given this a two star

Once the missing base had been delivered, the set up was easy. It’s solid and a good size

I bought this because of the brand name, after having a problem with another brand developing a leak due to the weight of the water within the butt causing it to develope a fracture. I have upgraded from a smaller water butt that had given sterling service of a similar design. This butt is a little lighter in construction than my previous butt but the prethreaded holes for the tap positions and lower connection looked like a fool proof solution for leaks. I duly installed my new butt carefully ensuring the tap installed did not cross thread and filled it with water to test its integrety. The tap thread leaked and would not seal on its own so PFT tape was applied after a couple attemps the leak sealed job done. No the second low level threaded connector fitted with a threaded bung leaked also a repeat performance with the PFT tape. The butt has been full of water for a few weeks and appears to be doing what it should. Although I do not have small childeren the child proof lid is the the best feature. I am sorry this reveiw is so rambling I might just be unlucky or you might want to get some PFT tape just in case if you buy one of these butts.

This water butt is extremely well designed for it's purpose. Some highlights:--> It is made of solid plastic so there is little to no fear of damaging it.--> The tap to let the water out is a small way up from the bottom so the dust and stuff from the roof just gently gathers at the bottom--> The lid is child-safe so no risk of your kids falling in. It takes some doing to get it off.--> The drainpipe attachment (mine came with this) looks smart and works well. It is fairly easy to get it the right height and then any excess rain that enters the barrel flows back into the drainpipe.--> It comes with a second hole at the top such that, if you wanted to, you could connect up multiple barrels to this system.--> The stand is excellent for being able to put your watering can or other object beneath it and the fast flow tap lets the water out rapidly.All in all I can highly recommend this item, but do check the itinerary on the side of the barrel when it arrives and make sure you have everything. In my case I was missing a few parts but all was sorted relatively quickly.

Description said it was a kit with a stand and diverter. Sticker on product said it was a kit. No stand and no diverted in box. Ordered 3. All the same

decent quality for the price, reasonably thick plastic and good lid. filler hose should have included clips to hold In place. I can't understand why the tap is so high on all butts, it wastes several gallons of space. Overall, good and I would buy another.

I already had one of these water butts and enough space to have a second.As it is predicted we are going to have a water shortage this summer I thought a second would be useful at least for watering the plants in my greenhouse. This was good value for money as I didn't need the interceptor etc. just a straight forward butt I could connect to the first. It arrived within the time allowed and I connected it. With all the rain we have had recently it is now full and so have just over 100 gallons for my plants. Pity I don't have enough room for a third.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. My only reason for writing a review is that having selected this item, Amazon showed that other buyers has also bought the downpipe attachment separately. This butt comes complete with the downpipe attachment and tap. You only need to separately purchase a down pipe if you want a second one to connect the butt to a second down pipe. Note also that the water butt stand pictured is not included and does need to be bought separately if required. I would recommend buying this stand to raise the butt to a level which allows a watering can to be filled from it.
