Use appropriate cables (ie shorter)

That one review for this makes me laugh. I call it SATA Spaghetti. They make shorter SATA cables...and they make zip ties...and Velcro. This took me several hours off and on to move everything into it. I do think I could get 2 more drives in the middle as well easily enough. A modular power supply would help some but I didn't have an extra.I put 2 of my SSDs next to the drive cages. I have 6 currently and plan to go up to 8 at some point, and those last 2 will probably just rest on the bottom of the middle drive cage. I could also move the middle SSDs on the right to just be free floating as well and probably end up getting a total of 6 HDD + 8 SSD with the microatx. If you plan to or need to swap drives a lot this is not going to be the case for you. For me it's just my NAS and I don't mess with it much. It's got a raid card and a 10g sfp card and it just stores my data and runs veeam to backup my PC. It's pretty self sufficient. It was really easy to "build", everything seems machined really well. Heavy and sturdy. Quiet enough. Ok price.*** It did not come with motherboard screws. But I had my own.

Do not recommend with Micro ATX Motherboard

There’s not enough room in the case to comfortably fit everything. I missed it when buying this but with Micro ATX motherboards, you cannot fit HDDs in the bottom slot of 2 of the bays, limiting you to 7 drives rather than 9. Thankfully, I was able to get around this by printing an adapter that allowed me to mount SSDs on the bottom slots, rather than the top. This allowed me to still take advantage of the 9 drive capacity, but because the SATA ports are on the edge closest to the bays, I could not fit the cables and instead had to utilize ports on my PCIE card. This brings me to my next point. As you can see from the photo, cable management in this small of a compartment is a nightmare. Ultimately made it work in the end, but had they added a few more inches in depth, I would have been able to comfortably mount all 9 drives and keep the cables organized and away from fans.On the plus side, the fans included in this case are fantastic. They provide ample airflow and are barely audible. I think that it is worth the price I paid, but do not think it should be marketed for Micro ATX motherboards.

Very well built case!

This has been a fun little project. I'm glad that I bought this case for my first build.I didn't like how loud the fans were as I would still like to hear myself think when I'm in my server room. I swapped these out for some Arctic F8 PWM fans to replace the 4 stock ones. Using my motherboard controller I was able to spin down the fans to about 80% which still keeps the HDDs cool while being silent.Other than that, I had no issues using the supplied screws (they work on both the mobo and HDDs to mount everything. The quality is really good for the price that you pay.I docked a star (almost 2 stars) for the following:1. All Mobos I looked at had some sort of ARGB or RGB control. It would be nice to see these through an acrylic cover.2. The fans were way too noisy to me so I had to swap them out.

Well Made Server Case... And Looks Great!

This 2u server case from Rack Choice is well made. The metal is heavy gauge and feels of quality. The inside of the case is compact but is to be expected for a small form factor case. I used an ASUS micro ATX motherboard that fit perfectly. I have four hard drives installed. For my motherboard, it is convenient to have an L-shape SATA cable due to the SATA ports on the mother board being right in front of the hard drivers. I did not use the factory fans that the case comes with, so I cannot comment about noise or how well they cool. I replaced this with Noctura fans. I can tell you with the 4 front Noctura intake fans running at high and a 92mm Noctura CPU fan running at high, and a Noctura 60mm exhaust fan in the rear, idle temps running Truenas are 19-23C. With Emby transcoding temp bumps to 30C. The key to good temps with this case are good fans on high. I hardly notice noise with the Noctura fans. Using Intel's utility to stress test the CPU, all thermal tests were passed with no throttling of the Intel Core i5-12600K CPU.I love this case for its build quality and aesthetics.

Excellent rack case

This is a pretty nice case. Lots of hard drive space for those who want to turn this into a NAS. It's just a case with fans, but with a decent amount of fans included. I'll be upgrading those most likely, but they work and they get the job done. Since I don't have rack sliding rails for this, I have this at the top of my rack, so I can access it easily if needed.

Slightly taller than 2U

Overall the case is well built for the price. The fans are great and move a good amount of air without being loud. Unfortunately the case is just a couple of millimeters taller than 2U. When you try and rack multiples of them, they start to not line up with the rack bolts/holes and will throw off the alignment of everything else in the rack. I bought 3 and basically can't use them because of this, and I didn't figure it out until I was just outside of the return window.

Custom MicroATX Nas Build

I used this case for a custom NAS build running unRaid. This is a nice case with 9 3.5" bays which is perfect for hard drives. I used a Super Micro MicroATX motherboard and noticed that the three drive cages inside the case can really only hold two each (for a max of 6) because the bottom drive would not clear the motherboard. I recommend going with a Mini-ITX board if you need to use all 9 slots. For me this is not a huge deal as I am using 4TB drives for a max of 16TB and two spares. I also found the fans to be kinda loud so I replaced them with Noctua ones.

This case is amazing! Well worth the money and it comes in under 18inch depth!

This is an amazing case for a proxmox/Truenas server. I was able to use all 9 hdd slots but the bottom two drives at the bottom will need 90 degree sata adapters. I was going to replace the fans like I did with my other case but the airflow is really good with the stock fans (bit loud if you are in the same room with the server). This is such a great case, if I had a need for another server this would be my go to case!
