Would it need to be prewarmed prior to adding food pans? Maybe put hot pab of water in it to get it started?

Simple physics. Yes, adding a pan of hot water in there will do the trick. Not sure why others don't understand that concept. If you're only putting a single pan, or half pan in there, yes, adding a pan of hot water will help keep the food warmer longer.

i noticed that my door wasnt sealing properly the other day is there any fix or suggestion to making this work right again?

Our folks often use the Door to lift the unit, thus bending and/or loosening the hinges. They just seem unable to stop themselves from doing it. The bottom of the Door is apparently just too nice of a handle for them not to use! You can buy replacement white door gasket and replacement hinges. Easier fixes than getting folks to pay attention to how they are lifting these. Last 2 I purchased here during manufacturing they really screwed up the heads of the stainless screws in the hinges so we have been unable to tighten those hinges. We will replace those screws when we have time to use EZ outs to remove the screws. So a simple job of tightening the hinges is now more complicated due to a manufacturing issue. The first 2 I purchased here were fine.
