Great sandal for the money- not a true "hiking sandal" though.
These are great. I wasn't sure about which size to get- I am a 9, typically, but depending on shoe, it can differ. Sometimes I go 9.5, but that's either in running shoes or some dress shoes. The 8.5/9 fit me perfectly. As far as adjustability, the strap behind the heel is what is adjustable. It connects to the straps that cross over the top of the foot, on either side. You can slide the heel strap up or down (or forward or back, depending on how you look at it), and it makes for a more snug or loose fit. My guess about people saying the straps get loose over time, *may* have something to do with this feature being a little more mobile after some wear. But, it could also be that the braids tighten up, making the straps be just a tiny bit longer than at purchase. Either way, for now they are great and I think for the price point (these aren't Chacos, after all) the quality is good and even if they stretch a bit, I would be glad I bought them. They are incredibly light, and the support is good- it's firm, without being stiff in the sole, or hard on the bottom of the feet. It's also not annoyingly squishy, which can feel kinda gross to my feet, especially if the shoe gets wet. In fact, I suppose they're so comfortable that the only way I think about my feet is to stop to consider how good they are feeling from time to time. The bottom of the soles are not what I could consider "hiking" sandals. They have texture for sure, but it is more like a light but dense foam/ (plastic?) I will feel ok wearing these in drier, slightly rough terrain, but I personally would not feel comfortable relying on them on wet or potentially slippery hikes.. however I've seen some reviews here that say they use them for that and with no issues. I suppose if they prove themselves trustworthy, then after some time I might give them a go at wetter conditions. They are quiet shoes, with the exception of the light sound of my heel lifting off of the back of the sole. I don't know that that is avoidable, but the shoes themselves don't make a lot of noise on the ground- indoor or outdoor.Overall, I would definitely recommend them. I will be using them for travel - to have a utilitarian sandal that can also be dressed up. Then just around town in my regular life when I return. If anything significant comes up after using them for sometime, I will edit this post.

Comfortable!
I love these sandals! They are super comfortable!!! I have flat feet and plantar fasciitis, I wear arch supports in most of my shoes. That is not so easy with sandals so I was looking for sandals with arch supports and are comfortable for walking but still look good. These have some arch support, but not too much. If you have high arches they might not be enough. The sole has some cushion to it, but not too much. I walked a lot in them right from the beginning with no discomfort. I bought a second pair. They are true to size. I just wish they came in a 5.5 size. That is my true size but I had to order a 6, so they are a little big but I still love them.

Perfect waterproof sandals!
This is by far my most comfortable waterproof sandals I’ve got! Super light weight and I feel like I’m wearing an open toe Sketchers. No break in period. It’s comfy from the 1st second I wore it, and I can run with it too. I wore this to the theme park for 2 days straight and it did my feet really well. What I love most is that it can function as a slip on and also a strap on. The design is pretty that it goes well even with my sun dresses. EXTREMELY SATISFIED!

Supportive, lightweight
Surprised to say~I actually like them!! They are lightweight, and somehow they support my high arch. The first time I wore them, I went on a 40-minute walk with my dog.. and they didn’t kill my feet or hurt my back!!The only thing is, they are loose around the topOf my feet.. it concerns me a little, but it’s also kind of a good thing, bc they don’t rub on my skin. Shoes I’ve had in the past have worn sore spot into my toes, or heel, and these don’t. Will see how it works out. I’d buy these again :)

Comfy sandals!!
These shoes are super comfy and super cute!! They can easily be adjusted too. One thing I noticed though, was that if I put the strap too high, it rubbed against my ankle. I just moved it lower and it stopped bothering me. It was more of a sensory issue, so I'm not knocking any stars off. Other than that, I'm super excited to wear them everywhere! I haven't tried using them as water shoes but I'm sure they're super comfortable for that

Plantar fasciitis approved!
So, my feet hate me. Seriously. I have plantar fasciitis that causes a lot of foot pain. However. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect sandal that can be worn with cute outfits AND be comfortable. There’s no other option for me. BUY THESE… your feet will sing like angels. I was on the fence for a long time… always browsing but ending up clicking away.Recently bit the bullet and bought some high end CHACOS and was so excited. Opened them up and tried them on and it was a NO. They were an expensive uncomfortable mess. These shoes are MUCH more cost efficient and absolutely a joy. If you like to travel GET THESE! they are incredibly light weight / lighter than air. It’s a modern marvel of science, truly.I want to live in these shoes. I’m living in them right now. The rope straps are adjustable… the cushioning and arch support is SO perfect that you get support for the tired feet without getting INCHES added to your height like some others (like hello, if I wanted a wedge I would get that instead). It’s so perfect im afraid I need to order 10more in all the colors just in case they sell out.I’m a 7.5 in most all shoes, I have wide and short feet with high arches. These were perfect.
