CV Gossip Board Game

Very small expansion and adds nothing of value to the game. CV is a fun, yahtzee-style game that plays like a mature version of Life. The original is very light-hearted and whimsical. My wife and I had a lot of fun playing it but we quickly noticed that it was in need of a greater variety of cards. Once you play through the game a few times you begin to see the same cards over and over.What CV needed was an expansion that added more variety, more goal cards, more variety, just more. What this expansion added was two new mechanics- a take-that type of card called a gossip card that you can add to another player's stack, and a new stack of fate cards that allow you to mitigate bad rolls (to a point) or add a new ability. The problem is that CV isn't really the type of game that benefits from the take-that aspect of the new gossip cards, and the fate cards often add something much worse than just taking the misfortune roll or abilities that aren't worth the resources you could use to buy better cards. You also cycle through the fate deck very quickly.Halfway through our second play through with the expansion my wife and I agreed to take them out. The game just wasn't much fun with them in, and we both found it to be very fun before adding the expansion.

When my mother in law comes to visit she loves board games. We saw this one and had not heard about it, but thought we would try it and we spent almost a week playing just this game :)

This expansion adds a fun element to the game

This game is super fun. I've played it with only my husband (2 players total) and then also in a group (4 players total) and it was fun both ways. It's a fast paced game with the most complected part being the scoring at the end. I think a phone app that helped tally the end victory points would be nice, but one doesn't seem to exist at this time. The Gossip game is an expansion for the CV board game and cannot be used without original version. It adds a new layer to an already fun game.
