Wide neck, ideal for food other than soup
This is the second food jar I've bought, the wide neck is ideal for eating all types of food straight out of the jar rather than a standard narrow opening of a regular flask. Keeps food hot for hours for both my kids that use these each day for school. Perfect for a hungry child or adult with a smaller appetite.Easy to clean, no leaks and great quality.

Works well
This is the first food jar I've used, and I like it. It has a wide mouth, so it's easy to fill and clean. It's smaller and sleeker than other jars I've seen people using at work, so it takes up less space in my lunch bag. It keeps my food warm really well too.I often only eat my lunch at 2 - 3 PM, having put it in there around 7 AM, and kept it in a pretty cold environment. This is longer than the 6 hours the manufacturer states it will keep food warm for, and I did find it was often a bit tepid by mid afternoon. However, I repurposed a cylindrical wine cooler bag to make a 'cosy' for the jar. That, together with making sure the food is absolutely piping hot, and pre-heating the jar with boiling water, gets me comfortably to the mid afternoon with hot food.I got the bigger size, because I wasn't sure the smaller one would hold a full meal. It's actually really capacious, if I fill it with soup or stew it is more than I can eat in one meal, so most days it's only half full. I probably would have been ok with the smaller size, but I do like the option of being able to put more bulky veg in there.

What you would expect from a Stanley
After a few non starters on food flasks I thought I would spend the little bit extra and get a Stanley. Pre heated it with boiling water and put my stew in it at 10am. After 3 hours, 1 hr of which was spent walking in 1oC I tucked in. Stew was still nice and hot so thumbs up for this flask. The loss of 1 star is down to the lid design. As it’s quite thin it was tricky to open with the vacuum seal. Not alot of surface to grip. Other than that a nice flask. Great shape, easy to get at your food and nice design.

High quality food jar
High quality food jar for my daughter who brings lunch sometimes in secondary school. The wide mouth design is what I was looking for and this food jar keeps the food warm till lunch time without problem. The build quality from Stanley is excellent.

Not too much lip on the rim
This is gonna be a bit of an odd point, but the rim that the o-ring sits on is not too deep. This means a) you can get every last spoonful of your dinner out b) it's easy to wipe out with a sponge/cloth. This might seem trivial, but I had a look around TKMaxx and John Lewis and couldn't find any option that didn't suffer these issues, including the Thermos branded ones. It's not a problem if you're eating soup, but anything thicker (curry, chilli, etc) recalcitrant bits get stuck under the rim and are a pain. The neck is more than wide enough to fit all but the chunkiest hands in, so cleaning is not an issue. There's a vent valve in the lid, so no risk of the top blowing off. I haven't tested it for spills as it's a gift, but I have no reason to expect any leaks during use based on the design. Putting cold fizzy drinks inside would be a good test as they may increase the pressure enough for the vent to release which might allow a small bit of liquid to escape at the same time. The build quality and design are both robust, and I wouldn't be worrying about damaging it in normal outdoor use (in a rucksack, the occasional drop, etc.)I've included a photo of the flask with a tin of spaghetti hoops for size reference. It's a good size and aspect ratio, more than enough space for a good hearty meal in winter or cold pasta salad in summer. I'll update this review if the recipient of the gift has any further comments or complaints, but I think they'll be more than satisfied - I may have to buy another one for myself 😬

False advertising
The thermos did keep the food hot. After one hour the food was cold. The results would be the same if I put food in a glass jar or tupperware. Big brand with 0 quality.
