Q: Does this save the last units setting used, or do you have to select the units you want every time you turn it on?

I checked using my unit. The last setting used is retained; the unit powers up using the last units type that was previously used. Additionally, the current units type is always displayed on the LCD screen.

Q: When setting this meter to read for gas supply pressure, i want to get results in inches of wc (water column). what's the setting for this meter?

This is exactly why I purchased this meter. Hit the units button until the units are shown as In. (Inches are abbreviated in). Also make sure you are in differential mode (the diff button) so that the inlet attached to the gas is compared to the inlet exposed to the atmospheric pressure.

Q: Can this measure inches water column? for gas valves and pressure switches?

Running through the units button, I see oz-in2, psi, inHg, mbar, mmHg, kpa, kg-cm2, in-water, ft-water, cm-water.
