I wanted a Smartwool cap and saw this one was a double-layer, so I bought it. So glad I did. Construction quality is excellent, material is extremely soft, fit is great on my small head. Tested it on a cold day: at 7am it was 29F with winds at 12-17 mph and gusts to 30. As the morning went on, this cap kept my head warm, wind-proof from gusts, and very comfortable. By lunchtime, the temp warmed up to around 38F. I kept the cap on (hat head) and began to sweat mid-afternoon. But the moisture-wicking capabilities of wool were superb. Wore it all day; cold, hot, wind, sweat, it didn't matter - cap performed beautifully. I plan on getting a couple more. Highly recommend!

Great lightweight hat that is very soft and comfortable. My favorite part is that this hat is not lined, so I can make the cuff as wide or narrow as I want (I tend to have it wider on the back of my head) and that it can also be worn as a slouchy hat.

I used this on a skiing trip, and was very happy with it. I am a very highly allergic person, and I found that I only itched a tiny bit after a few days. So I would say that the "no itchyness" claim is justified for most people. All the Smartwool products that I used on that trip were great. It is quite thin, so it fits under a ski helmet, and kept my head warm at 0F in the Swiss alps.
