Cute book. My favorite season

This is a book I never tire of reading with Granddaughter and we reread the series regularly. The stories are sweet and innocent about simple events in the lives of a community of charming mice with names that will make you chuckle. But the true treasures of the Brambly Hedge books are the drawings. They transport you to a happy, caring, cozy and safe world of simple pleasures and adventures. We spend a great deal of time pouring over the details of these exquisite drawings. It's a book that a youngster of eight (now 11) and her eighty year old grandmother can love together.

I'm not sure who loves the Brambly Hedge series more, me or my children (2 boys ages 3 and 4.) I only wish I had read them as a child. The beautiful illustrations and sweet stories are an antidote to the overly-computer generated graphics and underlying sarcasm I find in many of today's children's books. Only wish there were more. For others who feel the same, I suggest "Hopalong Jack and the Blue Bunnies" and "The Journey of Bushky Bushybottom" by Jeri Landers. Similar beautifully-detailed drawings and adventures of woodland creatures.

sweet set of stories

There really isn't a lot of quality books about the Fall, which is a shame since it is such a lovely season. Kill Barklem books about Brambley Hedge are wonderful little tales, filled with detailed drwaings about the little community of mice. Winter is just around the corner and the harvest is not complete. crops The mice rush to collect the rest of their crops before the rain begins. The wealthy Lord Woodmouse's daughter tries to help out in earnest but has wandered into the Woods. Now she is lost and scared, and it is after dark. Thrilling little tale that is worth it for the artwork alone.

I was given this book when I had children, I loved reading it yo them.It is beautifully written and so memorable!I highly recommend!

Sweet, cozy illustrations that create a sense of home, family and safety. It cannot be made any more charming than it is.
