I’ve never had a portafilter screen before, this is my first. I like that it keeps the machine clean (breville bambino) but it’s not a perfect fit in an aftermarket portafilter basket I bought…only slightly tight (and maybe it’s supposed to be) no issues at all with brewing through it. But I have noticed that it’s starting to hold onto some grounds and that’s after rinsing it off after each use…this too may also be normal, but 4 stars only because it appears that I may have to purchase another one soon and I’ve only had the one for a little over a month.

Very first time I put this on top of the espresso coffee puck in the portafilter and pulled my espresso base for a cappuccino, I was impressed with the SUBSTANTIAL improvement in the quality of the drink as a whole. The screen allowed both a more even distribution of the espresso into the cup and a thicker, more compact and visible crema on top the espresso. This meant that when pouring a small amount of steamed milk on top of the crema over an inverted teaspoon and then spooning the frothed milk on top of that, I had a perfect 4 layer - espresso, crema, steamed milk, milk froth - cappuccino, clearly visible through my glass 15oz coffee mug! On the very first time I succeeded in pulling the best cappuccino I have made in over 15 years!!! If you are serious about your espresso or cappuccino or latte, get this, because you'll be VERY glad you did!

For the best outcome of espresso, I generally expect pressurized water flow should be even. When the puck screen is not fully circular, can I expect its job will be still fulfilled?
