Takes some time to assemble (the first time only); Useful and firm once in place.__This appears be be a solid roof rack with some shaping to help with wind resistance. The biggest issue with this rack is the assembly (see notes). The good news is that dealing with that is a one-time issue, since you can remove the rails without fully dis-assembling them ever again. Just be sure you keep the key somewhere safe--you need the key to place the rails on your car. This review will concentrate on the assembly since there was some confusion that I'd like to save you from.__The instructions: A booklet is provided with photos. The instructions were fine--The English was reasonably clear, however the PAGES of my booklet were incorrectly arranged: Page 3 & 4 were placed in the back of the booklet instead of after page 2. All the pages were numbered though, so it was easy to get figure out what was going on. The real problem was with the photos. Since all the parts are black, it is nearly impossible to "see" where one part in the photos ends and another begins. I suppose an illustration (drawing) might have been better.__Again, everything is black: Metal clamping parts; matching silicone-rubber clamp "sleeves" (to better grip and protect your car when this is in place); the roof rack rails are black; and the "guide" for the nuts is also black. That means everything matches, so in the photos it's hard to see how to ORIENT the pieces. The only thing that wasn't black were the fasteners (silver). Here are my tips for you:(1) DO check you have all the pieces--if you think you are short of something, don't panic. Look to see if something was set in place at the factory: For example, one of the "sleeves" was already placed on its matching clamp and the "guide" for the nuts were already in place on the ends of the rails. I suspect this was done so customers could see where things were to go--it was helpful, once I realized what was going on. I know it had to be done at the factory because the box was sealed with those fiberglass packing straps--great for shipping and pretty much tamper proof.(2) MEASURE the roof rack rails you have received (not that they slide a bit, be sure they are fully compacted before measuring so you can tell which is the longer vs the shorter). One is longer than the other because car roofs for the Lincoln and other cars do not have parallel sides, so one roof area is wider than another thus you need roof racks of different widths for front and back placement. Check your car to see where is is wider and narrow--plan to use the shorter roof rack rail for the narrow location.(3) When assembling the small pieces to the roof rack rails: For my Lincoln, I needed to make sure the small sleeved piece with the flattened sleeve was placed directly against the roof rack rails, while the more rounded sleeved piece went to the outside. This could not be seen in the pictures (black on black on black--ugh!).(4) When you go to put these on your car, note that on the underside of the rails they have a raised R and L on the resin--R for right side of car and L for left side of car. If you know that and you know which is the longer roof rack rail you will know where and how to orient these.__There is a manufacturer video that might help--again black on black is not helping, but it might be helpful.BOTTOM LINE:__Solid rack that takes some time to assemble--not because the assembly is difficult, but because it's hard to see the detail in the photos. Once assembled, you won't have to do that again so its worth the effort for the added functionality.__Rack (the most important part): 5 stars; Instructions (English): 4 stars; Photos: poor--but with black on black it's not a tough issue, so I'm only deducting a modest amount for that.__4.5 stars overall (if I could). That rounds to 5.__I hope this review was helpful to you.
