Good, but not perfect!
It does what it says on the tin pretty well. However with the excellent addition of wifi activated boiling of the kettle, it highlights some features that need to be added.First of all since the kettle is connected to wifi, there needs to be an online account you can login into to boil the kettle when you are near home on 3G or 4g from your phone - currently this is not possible only on your own wifi at home.Secondly it is now very easy to forget to fill the kettle. Since you are not physically next to the kettle when you start it there is no way of checking. Even if you are next to the kettle, there is no window to see how filling is at a glance. A sensor that measures the amount of water in the kettle is an important addition.

Frustrating and back to the good old standard kettle.
So being generally considered as an early adopter and someone who loves his tech this was to be the ideal gift for my wife (the tea drinker). On receipt the item looks good quality and was eager to get it going. The setup process was initially fairly straight forward, unbox, plug in and then search for the app (iOS) to continue. You would imagine that the app would be obviously found, after searching for kettle, wifikettle nothing was found. So ended up going to the support site and clicking the appstore link - stupid me, its called iKettle. After going through the process of setting up an account (using your email address) attempting to search for the kettle using my iPhone that is connected to my router (what it calls Home Network), moving the kettle base, resetting the unit.... time and time again until it appeared ONCE !It then asks you to come out the app and connect to the iKettle SSID.This then connects to the iKettle so you can get it to connect to your home network. Select your home SSID put in your WEP/WPA/WPA2 password, the iKettle then connects to your wireless network (obtains an IP) and stops broadcasting as iKettleThis then allows any device running the app (on your network) to interact with the kettle. After all that's the ideaAt all times I could see the iKettle listed as a Wireless access point, so knew it was "bradcasting" an indication however that it hadn't been configured. One thing that people seem to miss is the fact the Kettle is not available on "the internet" and other random people are not able to discover you kettle and boil it.Out of the box it broadcasts (SSID) as iKettle - once configured it attaches to your home wifi and is just a device with an IP Address - like a printer, PC etc....So only then available to anyone attached to your wireless network. It doesn't get an internet (WAN) address, so is as secure as the rest of your devices on the router. Here starts the issues.1. It would drop off my home network and start broadcasting the iKettle SSID again, meaning the app can not connect2. The only way to restore service is to setup the kettle again - which took at least 20 attempts to connect initially out of the box3. to get around this you can leave the kettle un configured it broadcast an open SSID you can connect with any device, meaning it is unsecured and whilst your device is configured directly you don't have internet access (as you are connected to iKettle)4. if like me you were eager to setup the app in readiness and create your account, you cant access an already configured iKettle. It would appear that once its setup by a user account you have to gain guest access via your account. But every time I said Guest it would ask for new account sign up - and reject my email as being already present.5. the iKettle skin that was ordered did not fit correctlyI would like to say the item is faulty, but given how frustrating the setup is and how inflexible the app has become, quite frankly to get benefits - We cant be bothered. So all in all disappointing and a returned item in lieu of a standard kettle

Can't fault it...
So the kettle arrived not so long ago... looks great and was eager to get it set up.Upon installing the app on my iPhone I was immediately impressed with both the looks and the simple set up instructions. I followed the steps and was up and running in 5 minutes...The kettle looks great in my kitchen and has worked perfectly for the short time I have used it. I was a little sceptical about how much I would use the WiFi function BUT it really is very useful. I'm always timing it with the ad breaks and have also replaced my alarm clock! All in all, the kettle is well made and the wireless element has worked perfectly for me. I may just buy an additional skin to match the décor of my kitchen!

Lovely design, poor implementation and even more shocking customer service
First of all, the idea of this is amazing but the execution not so great and their customer support -- well, where do i start? We couldn't get the Kettle connected to the WiFi (and still can't) and have tried everything under the sun to get it working. I'm an IT Technician and literally nothing I've tried has got it working or connected to the network, there's something fundamentally wrong -- I got a replacement and even that won't connect, so there's an issue somewhere with the Kettle and my router.Anyway, i've tried calling the support telephone number 40+ times, no answer and get the answering machine EVERY single time and have had no call back. DO NOT spend a single penny on this product, a company that openly states it offers support and then leaves ALL of their customers high and dry do not deserve to have their products make them a profit. Customer service is key, without it, you're just another bunch of cowboys looking to make a quick quid.To summarize: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE WASTE YOUR MONEY. They genuinely do not deserve it.

This is our second IKettle. Unfortunately the first one after 2 weeks the lid wouldn't always close & when I managed to close the lid it would pop open during the boiling process. Amazon replaced this kettle within 2 days of requesting an exchange. A lot of teething problems setting the kettle up initially due to the android app but kettle looks good, fantastic idea & is working well. Just hoping 1st kettle was a one off!!!!!

Expensive
You need a strong wifi signal. Once you turn off at the plug it needs to be set up again.Very expensive for a kettle. It has a range of temperature setting, depending on what your making.

Product does not look like quality made kettle of other brands like bosch
1. Product does not look like quality made kettle of other brands like bosch, phillips, etc.2. Initial wifi setup instuction is not easy to understand: instruction says "please connect to ikettle network" without mentioning that you have to switch from you home wifi network to "ikettle" wifi network. However, when everything starts working, possibility to manage you kettle with smartphone is amasing. Enjoy
