A History of Ancient Egypt, Volume 3: From the Shepherd Kings to the End of the Theban M

Great advancement in phenomenology and reevaluation of older bias.
Excellent approach to historical narrative along with a view through, or attempt at, seeing history through the eyes of the people one studies. Having been interested in Egyptology since 1972 I am very comfortable with the level of detail provided in all 3 volumes. I wonder if it is just a bit difficult for anyone not versed to some extent in Egyptian history.

Fascinating
I bought a copy of Valley of the Kings by John Romer in Egypt on my first visit over 30 years ago. I have read everything he has published since then. In this fascinating book, he shows how our current knowledge of Ancient Egypt is seen through values and concepts that had no meaning at the time. The book shows how much work still has to be done to be able to explain this wonderful civilisation. It is not the last word on Ancient Egypt but maybe one of the first. It is by no means an easy read but I loved every word!
