I added the Tapo Leak/Water sensors to my Smart Home set-up after also adding the doorbell and hub as the hub/chime unit is required to provide the connectivity for the leak/water sensors. As with the doorbell, I chose TP-Link so that I didn't require yet another app on my phone. Once the hub was added to the app, the leak/water sensors were added really easily. I find the Tapo step by step guides really intuitive and these were added within 2 minutes. Their connectivity is reliable and they remain connected to the hub over a distance of 5-6m in my case. The units are nicely designed with the ability to detect water on a surface or dripping onto it from above. Overall I am glad I continued with TP-Link/Tapo products as these work well and operate in the background without any problems. At present, their battery life seems very good. I needed to contact TP-Link Technical Support regarding the doorbell I also purchased/set-up at the same time and the excellent customer focused response from Aurelia & Tyrone has made me super glad I expanded my Smart Home with Tapo. Great devices which work well together.

Unlike my previous experience with SwitchBot, which had constant connection problems, Tapo has been 100% reliable. The app alerts are fast and clear, giving me peace of mind that I’ll know immediately if there’s a leak. I also use Tapo’s smart LED strip lights, motion sensors, and temperature sensors, and everything works seamlessly together. Am a great fan of Tapo , have five of their camaras, 18 of their plugs , load of bulbs and just recently 6 of their thermometers . I just recently had my boiler replaced and wanted to check that my old pipes would survive the added pressure . These leak detectors are really well made , quite heavy , a really good size and easy to set up and have contacts on the top as well as their bases ,For some thing so small the alarm is loud . I hope the battery life's good as i have put them under floor boards and behind washers and the tumble dryer .

I have a mystery leak that occurs from time to time so I got this sensor. I place it in a container to also record the amount of water that has leaked. It has two leak detection areas. The top sensor is less reliable as drips need to land directly on the sensor area which is a small target and can be missed! The sensor's base probes are more reliable especially if placed in a container as it becomes more likely the probes will detect the water. Once a leak is detected, the leak needs to be cleared, the sensor dried with a towel and then its good to go again. Unfortunately the app's leak log can't be edited or notes added so it wasn't very useful for an intermittent leak. This aspect of the app could be improved. My upsum is it was a good purchase given the hub is a reasonable price and has helped me greatly understand the times of the mystery leak!

This is an item that's very easy to use as long as you have the relevant Tapo hub for setup and monitoring/alerts. I found the alarm/noise level when notifying you of a leak more than adequate

As usual with Tapo, a quality product at a good price. Fitted it to help resolve a persistent leaking WC. Detected the small leak and helped me locate the source. Saved a lot of potential damage. Alarm works perfectly with Tapo app and hub.
