My Fitness Coach: Dance Workout (Wii)

Great fun and gets you fitter!
It's the third game from the 'fitness coach' range I've got, they are all very different and serve different purposes - this probably has the widest range of appeal. And by far the best soundtrack. To use it you'll ideally have two wii-motes.First off you create your own profile and choose your personal trainer (Helllooooo Carlos!) give some of your stats and they create a personalised workout. Initially they're short, just 7 minutes or so but you have the option to do a quick workout after. It will tell you approximately how many calories you've burned during your session (and give an example of what food that equates to, for example I've burnt off a pile of breakfast pancakes today)If you don't want to do a personal trainer workout you have the option of a 'quick workout' 'two player' and 'my workout' the latter is were you design a range of exercises for yourself. There are four tabs of exercise you have to choose from; Latin dance, minigames, cardio boxing and warm-up/cool-down.When you click on the latin dance tab you're given a range of workouts you can do, if you go straight into them it's quick complicated to follow but there is an option to view the workout in steps from different angles - very useful since you can work through it at your own pace before doing the actual. I have very little co-ordination so sometimes find the steps quite difficult to follow but when you grasp it it's very satisfying. I imagine it's a lot easier if you have any dance experience but will get easier over time - it does require effort to learn which I think adds to longevity for a game. The boxing is great fun once you get the hang of it, my favourite so far is 'Jai-ho' in the more advanced section but it starts off with easier routines. The mini-games take some mastering, my 8-year old got off to a great start with all of them whereas I couldn't figure out how to avoid the bull in the Matador game, but I'm getting there. Again it's practise.Overall I'd say it's a brilliant game for its target market, spend half an hour on it and you'll feel you've had a workout, and want to go back for more.

Dance enthusiast must have!
Pre-ordered so it has arrived earlier than the release date ( in case you wonder why its being reviewed already). This is my first myFitness Coach game so I can't compare it to the others, but like the EA Sports Active: Personal Trainer (Wii) and EA Sports Active: More Workouts (Nintendo Wii), it asks for your weight and height, keeps track of your progress and tells you how much calories you have burnt. This is the first game I've encountered that gives you the option to use 2 wii remotes, one for both hands. I'm hoping this would take away the movement bias to one hand which some routines have in Just Dance (Wii). In the quick workout menu, there are four sections: Latin fit, cardio boxing, mini games and the warmup/cool down sets. There are tutorial videos for Samba, Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton and Cumbria; and a good number of short sets.In the MY WORKOUTS menu, the routines are made up of a few different sets. For example, it can have a combination of sets of Salsa, Samba, cardiobox, a mini game and the warm-up and cool down sections.I've only tried the beginner workouts and it has been FUN. It started with the basic foot work, the hands, both in moderate speed, then faster. The trainer also tells you how to do it right e.g. " move your arms lead by your elbows, followed by your hands" or something to that effect. The instructor talks about the movements as you do it while an insert video tells you what the next move would be. Little arrows on the floor shows up if you are to turn in that movement. The options are beginner, intermediate, advance and pro. So there's a lot to progress onto. Had a quick look on the PRO routines and it did not have the sectioning as mentioned in the beginner, it just went straight to the moves and was much quicker. If following the dances in Just Dance (Wii) and Dance on Broadway (Wii) is following an mtv or someone's dance video, this game is like going to a dance class with a twist.Verdict: If your want fun dance routines with additional fitness stats tracking, this is it! Buy!

Improved my fitness and waistline!
I must admit, I was sceptical at how successful My Fitness Coach Dance Workout would be but having read the reviews I thought I'd give it a go. It's great! So far I have only used the personal trainer option, whereby your personal trainer puts together a work out for you based on your goals - better fitness, weight loss etc. I use the game 5 days a week and after 14 days my waistline had lost an inch and I'd lost 3lb's and I didn't have to endure the embarrassment of an aerobic session in public! The workouts and music are varied, your heart rate is monitored and you keep track of how many calories you have burnt. You can also put together your own workout if you don't want to follow the personal trainers recommendation. An all round great tool to keeping fit and losing weight, highly recommended.

This game was bought as a fun way to lose weight especially for someone who likes to dance. It has many mini games with it which are quite good and the personnel trainer helps motivate you. However I have found that there are no real basic routine in either the dancing or the boxing so if you have no co-ordination it is tough going.Another setback I found with the games was the Wii remote doesn't always respond as you want it to,ie: with the sword play you swing the remote in the direction required but the blade doesn't move. Therefore if you are a fitness fanatic it has a lot to offer but if you have co-ordinated and unfit it isn't a total loss as you can still have quite a bit of fun with the 2 player option.

super!
