This is a very well made chain hoist that comes with a pouch that makes is much easier to transport. I actually use this as a winch for pulling lawn equipment up onto a trailer. It works really well for that purpose. Quality is excellent and I do think this would lift 550 lbs despite it's small size.One thing to note is that this is a lever-style hoist, so you need to be able to reach the lever to ratchet the load. If you are hanging this from the ceiling to lift straight up, you'll need to be able to reach the ceiling to lift. Not at all a problem - just something to be aware of before you order.This has earned a place in my toolbox and I am glad to have it. If you need a compact and sturdy lever-style hoist I would definitely recommend it.

Used this for a home made jeep top lifter.Was easy to hang and easy to use. Had no issues with raising or lowering. Smooth motions and no jerking or hard ratcheting.Held up the top from a 2013 4 door Wrangler without issue.

I got this to help me lift larger pieces of timber onto my workstations, both in my woodshop and out in the woods when I am able to collect timber to make into lumber. It doesn't work in the manner that I thought it did when I ordered it. I assumed that the handle was one that you pumped up and down. It is not. It is an actual ratcheting crank handle that is much easier to use than that and should make it a lot easier for me to maneuver around large pieces of wood, since I am disabled and have a weight limit as to how much I can lift.It is very easy to change the up/down direction of the ratchet and the clutch that prevents the load from falling seems to be very strong. I haven't had the chance to test it with a really large load as yet but it supported my 200lb weight without any sign of slipping.Looking forward to being able to put this through its paces once I get to harvesting lumber for my woodshop. As it stands right now, I recommend this product. If anything changes with that I'll update my review, but I'm really happy with it.

This is a nice sturdy chain hoist, this one with a 20 ft chain is great for high ceilings or whatever fixed point you have to deal with. if it's high you have plenty of chain so no worries. The galvanized chain shouldn't rust for a while at least but even when it does it's only cosmetic, this seems to be pretty solid stuff. This hoist lifts and lowers with no problem, the only issue I have had, is if you have a heavy load on when you switch it into lower it's fine, but if you crank the handle a couple of times and let go it will just spin free and lower the object to the ground. it does lock again if you grab the handle and start ratcheting it to lower the object to the ground, then you can let go and it holds itself, but if you bump that handle it will just spin free again, don't let that handle get away from you when lowering. but I have not noticed any issues with lifting. This rig seems to be well made and pretty heavy duty with more than enough chain and it even comes with a carrying bag, in case you need to take it with you somewhere or just to store it in.Overall not bad for the price though
