A little on the bitter side but pretty fresh tasting and good value
Even though red tea isn't known for being better aged, and these are from 2022, they still have enough freshness to provide a nice aroma and robust flavor especially once the ball begins to open from steeping. They serve a bit more bitterness than some black teas, but in a not-so-bad dark chocolate sort of way. I've been brewing Gong Fu style and it works pretty well for that. The tea soup brews up a satisfying brown color and lasts a pretty good amount of steeps. I'm a beginner to Chinese loose-leaf tea, but this seems like a pretty good value, probably worth a try if you're looking for a robust daily drinker.

Bitters
A high quality tea that has a better bitterness. The bitters are what makes it healthy to me. Without the bitters involved it's nothing but waste. That's why I choose this brand as better quality and pungent.

If you are trying this type of tea for the first time then let this be the tea you try first.
Junn Shenn tea balls are fantastic. There are thirty balls of compressed tea, each individual tea ball carefully wrapped in paper held with a pretty little twist tie. Quite a few steeps can be had from a single tea ball, each steep being somehow far better than the last right up until fade off. This is my third purchase from the Junn Shenn company. Excellent, simply excellent.

Tastes like boot leather
Cool packaging ... but tastes like old boot leather.

An okay budget tea, strong
This tea may not be for everyone. I am speaking as an avid gong fu brewer but not so much of a snob. I have a sense of "adventure" to try Amazon listings abd they're mostly hit or miss. LEAF QUALITY 7/10 The pearl itself is pleasingly presentable. Whole leaf with minimal stems compared to other listings. There is also a minimal amount of dust that erodes from the pearl during steeping. However, the leaves don't last over 5 steeps and break apart quickly. FLAVOR: 8/10 Liquor is thick and very smooth. Brews can be intense so if you're not a fan of thick strong tea, I recommend flash brews. As seen in my video I would strongly encourage a rinse as this gets rid of the strong smokey flavor. The earthyness of the taste may be what turns some people away. This is a strong cup! But has a more charcoal essence when you first sip. Very toasty and smoky with a silky red wine finish. The aftertaste (like all aged teas) is the best experience. I get sweet blackberry and dark chocolate. PRICE FOR QUANTITY 10/10 I will purchase another order very soon just to keep a good amount in my stock. I would recommend if you are looking for a low budget option for the QUANTITY of pearls.

It's already the right size for a 1-Cup Brew per Individually Wrapped Puck.
1st time I've tried these Individual Sized Compressed Tea Cakes, and I'm very pleased with the results. I do "Grandpa Style" brews, and this Tea's Aroma, Taste, Flavor, and Color are very good. It's already the right size and weight for a 1-Cup Brew. No need to go through breaking apart a Large Compressed Tea Cake. ------------------------------------------- 5-STARS, and suggest you try it too. ------------------------------------------

Rich, mellow, no grassy taste, good value.
Super delicious pu erh tea. Rich flavor, mellow. The after taste is like its own cup. No grassy taste. At most, I can say a slight meadow taste that fades fast into a delicious tea. Good value. One ball made 2x20 ounce teapots, both with deep red coloring. The seller says one ball can make 50ounces, but my pot only holds 20 ounces. So I’ll try another half pot with the same tea to see how it is. But I was impatient to share how good this tea is. All 3 tea drinkers in our family give it 5 stars. I put it on my subscription, so don’t you all buy it out!

A decent tea
I got this tea hoping that it would taste as good as some of the more expensive teas I've been buying from China. It was adequate but not as good as I had hoped. The flavor was full-bodied for sure. Bold, even. But I thought it lacked complexity and was a little one-note. Still, of the various Puehr teas I've purchased from Amazon, this is the only one I'd buy again. It's a decent cup when you just want puerh and aren't looking for an "experience." It reminds me of the coffee my dad used to take to work in his thermos to sip on while he worked the assembly line. He wasn't expecting anything more than "coffee" out of that coffee, so he wasn't disappointed. So, I'll keep some around when I want a thermos full of puerh at my desk, but I'm not hosting a tea ceremony with it for my best friends.
