The vise on my drill press was a simple one that came with the drill press when I got it. Over time, it has been dropped, rusted when left near a container of muriatic acid (my fault), and has generally ran the course of its useful life. I was looking around and ran across this one, which seemed like it was heavier than the one I have, and I was correct.The first thing I noticed about this vise was how heavy it is. I was really surprised by the weight, but as I started checking it out, all of the movement was very smooth and tight. The screw works very smoothly and it is nice to use. I have used it for things from drilling holes in metal plates for home projects I was working on, to very carefully holding a watch clasp I needed to use a needle file on. It has truly become my go-to for anything small I need to work on.Overall, this vise is built extremely heavy and I have not run into a single issue with it to complain about. It bolts well to the table of my drill press and works well as a bench top vise for smaller things. Definitely worth it.

This is too large for my small benchtop drill press but is going to work great for a bench vice. I am really impressed with the quick release button which will save lots of time. It is for sure a heavy piece. I have a shop and do woodworking in my garage and a separate jewelry making shop so it will be hard to decide which shop needs it most. This is well made and I recommend it.
