Rich in flavor. My second buy of this Hungarian Paprika.

I only buy this brand! ONLY. It is perfect! I love making homemade paprikash and everyone loves eating it. If I use another brand, they can tell and so can I! Highly recommend. My oldest calls paprikash, "fat kid food" and she can stiff out bad paprika like a Hungarian herb hound. I dare NOT use any other brand or suffer the whining.

Real paprika from Kalocsa region of Hungary. Look for the seal of the EU verifying authenticity. Don't buy fake tasteless paprika. There are a few other regions from where paprika is known to be made, such as Szeged. But without the EU authenticity seal, it's just a claim. IMO the Kalocsa region makes sweeter and redder paprika. (Fighting words, I know.) I wouldn't touch smoked paprika, that's some kind of newfangled fad. But the hot paprika (also authentic with the seal), that's a lovely addition. It's a mild-heat, but it can build up too much if you're not careful. If you're making hot Lecso, add one poblano to the mix of bell peppers, and use hot paprika and that's all. By day 2, the heat will have infused and intensified. So don't overdo. You can also get paprika paste now too. Waited 30 years to be able to buy that anytime I wanted. Life is changing for the better with online markets.

What can I say? I enjoyed the result of using it, in a stew I made, so much that I've been using it in most meals for the past two weeks. There's a slight heat to it and it will impart a rich colour and flavour to your food. I'm eager to use it in a tripe casserole to try and replicate the tripe my mother used to make. This paprika has inspired me to explore more real paprika flavours. Somehow I knew that paprika could be good but now I'm reassured.
