Great for black boys
Nice to have books for black boys to see themselves. The name choice was a bit stereotypical but nonetheless I enjoy having a selection of books with black children on the cover that my son can choose from so was happy to add it to his collection

Absolutely amazing book to boost confidence, with diverse characters too!
This is such a lovely book that I feel all children should read with their parents. It absolutely boosts confidence and opens up a conversation into the world of diversity and language too.I wasn't expecting this book to be so engaging and hit off such thought provoking conversations with my 6 year old boy. This is definitely great to read together, to explain different areas, the dialect too and answer any questions your little ones may have about the story or characters. The fact we have a lovely family in the book, to see this in picture form with such brilliant illustration too is wonderful. Our 6 year old was able to read this with his sister too and I could hear him chatting away explaining different areas we had spoke about together! Bursting with pride to see and hear how much he had taken in from our talks.I received this book for free, but this is my honest review. Thanks again!

Inspirational book to empower your little ones!
I received this book for free but this review is my own.My 8 and 5 year old children loved this book but for different reasons. My 8 year old loved the over arching message that you can do anything if you try really hard and look at things differently to solve a problem. She has a life long illness so we frequently have discussions about how anything is still possible but sometimes you have to rethink how you are going to do it. So as a parent I really loved that this book provided the opportunity to reiterate this message. My youngest loved the animal pictures and was intrigued by the language which opened up another opportunity to discuss culture. So many fab things in this book from the messaging to the bright and bold illustrations. I would highly recommend this book.

You need this on your bookshelf!
I was really excited to receive this book through the post. The first thing I noticed was that it's written by Lenny Henry, who I absolutely love!Secondly, from the very first glance of the cover you can see that the illustrations are fantastic. Bright, cheerful and colourful. This continues the whole way through the story. I just loved the illustrations in this book. They are great. I loved that Grandad isn't portrayed as an old man with a walking stick like in most childrens books! I loved the explosions of colour throughout which then really helped to make the important black and white page stand out and catch your attention. My excitement grew when we started reading and I realised it was a rhyming book. I personally think all children's picture books should rhyme. I just feel they hold children's attention more when there is a rhythm to them. This book has topics that I think all children love and find interesting- space, dinosaurs and ice cream but it is also diverse but with topics and language and gives you the opportunity to discuss cultures that may be different to your own. If you are looking to make sure you have a diverse children's bookshelf (which we all should be!) this should definitely be on it. I also love that it shows a grandparent as the caregiver, whilst the mum is at work and that your imagination allows you to do anything. It's just an all round lovely book! I really recommend....I received the book for free but this is an honest review.
