Well it's great
Tooth powder? Yes. I was a Crest man for years. But lately it doesn't taste the same. Other brands leave me wanting too, for that clean minty feeling. Could be me. So I thought I'd give the dirt a shot. The flavor is good. Cinnamon, clove, and clean earth. A little goes a long way. My mouth feels and tastes clean like it hasn't for years with toothpaste--not just Crest but other brands including a few fancy European names. I don't know what the dentist will say at the next cleaning. But I'm very satisfied. It's pricey but it's a six month supply they say on the bottle. By the way, it comes in a glass bottle not a plastic tube. What's not to like?

LOVE THIS!
I LOVE THIS! I read the reviews before purchase and instead of dipping my brush into the little pot I get some on a ceramic spoon so only a little gets clumpy at once. PERFECT! It really does taste as lovely as people say. I don't feel like the cinnamon is overpowering at all and saltiness is negligible (something I worried about with baking soda). You only need a tiny bit and my teeth have never felt so clean (beyond that first 20 minutes after leaving the dentist's office.) I was surprised, after my research, how many unnecessary chemicals are in my organic pastes that I've been using for years. I've love the flavor and how clean my teeth are! I love that my teeth squeak while I'm brushing (they're that clean)! I love the absence of chemicals. I also love that at my seasoned age, I get a giggle when I spit and it looks like dirt. Clever name! Great product! My only feedback to The Dirt folks is that it's pricey for such a risk. I regret not buying the larger one but I didn't want to regret buying a large one and hating it. I can't be the only one and a "sample size"/one time use thing that I could have gotten for not too expensive, in a little packet that wouldn't cost you more than a postage stamp to mail would probably help those who agonize over whether to try this, and opted not to. Also, many of us who use your product have some sort of environmental consciousness and I ordered two and to have each container in its own bubble envelope, and both of those placed in another, larger bubble envelope seems really, unnecessarily wasteful. That was a poor first impression. Luckily your wonderful product made up for it.

works but not my favorite
The tooth powder I love is no longer available on Amazon or easy to purchase so I decided to try this one. The one I usually use doesn't use bentonite clay and I think that's the big issue I have with this; the texture just feels off and there's a residue with it that I don't have with my other tooth powder. Might try a couple others that don't use clay before giving up and trying to make my own! That said, this is still an absolutely effective tooth powder and leaves my teeth feeling clean and doesn't cause me any sensitivity (something all toothpastes do).

Effective cleaning and reduced heat/cold sensitivity
I was mainly looking for a toothpaste product I could take with me on my frequent work travels, without all the mindnumbing hassles that traveling with liquids cause. Also, a lot of the foaming agents and the glycerin that almost all liquid toothpastes include irritate my throat and palate, so I wanted to avoid all that. My main hopes were that my teeth would get kind of clean and wouldn't rot. T have been thrilled by the results. Before using, I told my dentist and hygienist I was going to try the switch and they recommended also using a fluoride wash.My experience: My teeth felt clean every time, I had zero mouth irritation or gagging, I found the product easy to use and not messy - just wet toothbrush, shake off the moisture, press bristles into "dirt", tap off any excess, and it's not any messier than any other toothpaste (and you won't waste water like a fool by having the tap running). After about two weeks, my teeth felt subjectively stronger somehow, but I didn't place much weight in that, assuming it was a placebo effect or something. After 5 weeks, I noticed my teeth were no longer hypersensitive to hot or cold (didn't need to protect them at all with my lips anymore when sipping coffee for example). For the sake of this experiment, I didn't use a fluoride rinse after the first month, after reading that the primary purpose of fluoride is to help teeth remineralize, I wanted to see whether the minerals in the "dirt" would do the same thing.Dentist and Hygienist feedback: Both said my teeth looked great before I reminded them I was essentially using clay and not real toothpaste. They were quite surprised! The dentists said I should keep using the "dirt" though he did reiterate his recommendation that I do a weekly rinse with a fluoridated mouthwash. We'll see what they think at the 1 year mark...
