Excellent all around tv
The first one came with some issues related to the main components I guess ( Flickering screen, black screen at connecting HDMI cables) so we ordered a replacement and I have to say I’m enjoying this Sony TV even more than our Hisense H8K and H8N, Samsung Q80D and more than our LG C4, I don’t know why but the PQ is like more clear or it has the right balance between brightness, clarity and colors accuracy, I really don’t know but we agreed that this is the best picture quality of all of the them and we have moved it to the bedroom hahaha. Also I try all my streaming devices ( ATV 4k the last gen, Amazon fire stick 4k max and cube, google streamer, Walmart Onn pro 2024, and Roku stick 2025 HDR!!!, and Roku ultra the last one) And FYI the best results for me were with both Rokus first and then Amazon fire tv cube. The PQ with Roku ultra with always DV is outstanding, but even Roku stick that has only HDR performs better than the others, PQ is excellent, same for Amazon fire tv cube. Sound is great for my needs. This Sony Tv is 2 years old but it is so good I will recommend without hesitation, you won’t regret buying it.

I love this TV!
This is the nicest TV I've ever owned in my 40+ years on this planet. My last TV was a 42"1080p, which was decent, but this thing is on a whole other level! The picture on this thing is so good! My cable TV only lets me get decent picture, but when I turn on my Xbox Series X and play a 4k game or watch a DVD or downloaded video I get to see what this thing is capable of, and I love it! I don't see any problems with it at all. I'm not a videophile or expert, but when I saw a random comment here and there about a random thing being a small issue with their TV I tried to recreate the same thing and never got anything that would ever remotely qualify as a problem. Maybe I'm just not sensitive enough, but to me this TV is pretty much perfect. One of the nicest surprises of the TV is the sound it puts out! I was kind of expecting decent sound because I've seen that some modern TVs (like my last one) have what is essentially like a little mini soundbar built into the bottom of the TV when they're big enough. Since my last 42" sounded good I hoped this would too. Well I was NOT disappointed! The sound is really clear, and gets more than loud enough for my small living room (20'x30'). I have never turned it up past 40 and I'm pretty sure it goes up to 100. It's not going to shake the house or make your ears bleed since there's no sub woofer or anything, but for a TV I can't help but to be impressed. Actually, not only is there good sound coming from the bottom of the TV, but Sony seems to have done some kind of magic with speakers mounted in the back on the side of the TV up towards the top. These things can throw sound around the room and create a kind of surround sound. I don't know how they do it, because there isn't even a speaker grill or anything back there, the sound just comes through the plastic. I only noticed because I was standing next to it and heard them. It's a cool feature I wasn't expecting. As I sit here typing this I have the TV on and I'm sitting in a menu for Forza Motorsport. The sounds of the menu music really seem like they're coming from the sides, and even behind me a little bit. The sound from this TV really impresses me. More than a few times since I bought it I'll think I hear something outside to my left, but it's just the TV doing it's thing. It's great! One thing to note is that this TV is heavy. I believe the box said 70lbs when it was delivered. I have it mounted on the wall and I needed a friend to help me so I didn't risk breaking anything. So if you see the listed weight on here and think that other TVs are so much lighter and easy to pick up so it must be a typo, it isn't. This thing is so much heavier than I thought it would be. I know there are better TVs out there, but they cost a lot more. I believe Sony pushed the tech in this kind of TV about as far as they can, and in my opinion they did an amazing job. It isn't the latest and greatest, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this TV. If you're on the fence, do it! I think you'll be happy. You've probably done enough research to be where you're wondering if you should pull the trigger. Well I think you should. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm so happy I bought this thing! I'll update if anything changes, but part of the reason I bought this is because Sony is supposed to build TVs that last much longer than others. We'll see. Right now I couldn't be happier.

WOW. Very impressive TV. Well made, great picture and sound. I love it.
I spent 10 hours researching TVs and I always come back to this one. I love all Sony products. Been buying them for 35 years or more. The Sony Bravia TV is one of the best. I remember back in 2000 the original one. It was awesome. Lasted me 15 years. I then bought a Sony X85J for my bedroom in 2022. I love it so much that I now bought this one for my Man cave game/sports room. Today, I turned it on and calibrated it. WOW, can I say that the picture looks so much better than out of the box. Calibration took me 45 minutes. I found all the settings online. This TV is awesome!! It is well made, looks great. I even mounted it onto the wall stand myself. It weighs 55lbs with the bracket rails on it. Very easy to lift up yourself. I sit 7 feet Away so I get the wow effect. The picture is super sharp, crisp, clear. You can really see the colors pop out at your especially after my calibration that I used. Everything runs well. I love how Sony builds their TV's. It is solid!! They definitely package them well. No issues with it. It was delivered one day early from Amazon. Great delivery service. They were very careful with the TV. They placed it in my garage. I can't say enough about this TV. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great TV that looks like OLED without the OLED price. This is a very affordable TV. 65" is awesome for my sports.

Small improvement over the X90J, still need external network adapter to get good download speeds
My "nice" TV always gets a lot of use due to being used for music and other applications, when we're not watching TV or Movies. I had the similar Sony X90J (2021) for a few years, then it developed a hardware fault that necessitated replacement, and I liked the old Sony enough I ended up replacing it with this X90L, which is essentially the same model, just a couple of years newer. The X90L was also available for a great price due to not being the "latest" Sony when I purchased it. The sound quality is a bit better than the X90J, and the picture is definitely improved. In a side-by-side I'd say that this X90L has a clearer picture. It also seems to be better at processing, having less perceived "lag" or artifacts than the older model. Software-wise, this had the exact same build of Android as my X90J, but actually received a much-needed update soon after purchase, which greatly improved the performance of the settings menus and the applications. Sony's Android flavor is almost "stock" Android, and gets the normal, vanilla Google TV updates straight from Google, using Google Play. Yes, there are "smart" features/apps from Sony and their partners that you are able to enable or install, but almost none of this is forced up on you. Also, if you are comfortable using ADB, you can log into the TV and disable bloatware, advertisers, or ad providers. So, why not five stars? Simple - the networking hardware is behind-the-times. The older Sony TV from 2021 had a low amount of storage space, poor wifi connectivity, and its ethernet port was only 100 megabit. This newer TV is the 2023 model, and the only thing that improved from that list is (thankfully) the storage size. The networking hardware is still very old and underpowered. Using a brand new 5ghz router 2 feet away, the X90L can get around 300 megabit download speeds at best. The specifications list "Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g/n/ac" but these speeds definitely align more with the "n" standard than the "ac" standard. A smartphone sitting right next to the TV will get much higher download speeds than this TV. The wifi speeds are "fine" for streaming most content, but limited networking speeds in the 2020s is not a good look. Another frustrating wifi issue is that 5ghz wifi fails when any sort of ethernet connection is in place. That one is weird. But wait, there is an ethernet port on this, so perhaps you could use that instead? NO! In 2023, Sony used a 100 megabit ethernet port! So yeah, with overhead you're getting maybe 85 megabit streaming on that? Luckily, I had already solved this with the X90J. A USB Gigabit Ethernet adapter (or dock) functions fine in the X90L's single USB 3 port. After all is said and done, this is the fastest network connection you can get on these TVs. In my testing, the download speeds averaged around 600 megabits, which is twice what the built-in Wifi adapter was capable of, and a whole seven times faster than using the built-in ethernet port. This greatly improves the speed of getting updates for streaming apps, and is much more than is needed for the most demanding content streaming on Disney or Amazon, virtually eliminating any noticeable buffering. Another sour point about the networking is that this model still requires enabling "simple IP control" in order to persist the network connection when using ethernet (I do not recall if this was true when using the built-in wifi). This keeps the hardware in a powered-on state to listen for network events (and also keeps the USB port on, which is probably what's making my particular networking setup work), which increases your power draw and also may be putting wear on the TV. The power mode settings for "wake by app" and such do not work, without enabling "simple IP control."

Excellent TV needs two people to install/lift.
In my opinion this is an excellent TV. Picture is excellent and sound is excellent. I have it wall mounted in my bedroom. I am 70 yrs. old and it was quite heavy to mount to a wall bracket by myself, I would suggest that you find a second person to help. The setup was very easy and the remote works nicely. It should be noted that the remote does not light up as the one I received with my 65" TV same Sony model. Brightness seems to be fine.

AMAZING!
Bought this based on a recommendation from a friend of mine who sells TVs professionally, and I'm glad I took his advice! This thing is not over hyped at all, in fact it was even better than expected! Picture quality is great! It wasn't nearly as bad to mount on the wall as I thought with the handles built into the TV on the corners.

It Is A Decent TV
First of all, it's a Sony. So you know the quality is good. This is an entry level Sony though. I do think it's better than the Bravia 5, even though it's older. The colors are less saturated. However, it's nowhere near the picture quality of the Bravia 9, QM8k, or U7 or U8. It's just okay. It's a solid purchase. Great value. Decent brightness. Works well with my Sony receiver. In hindsight, I should have gone bigger. Would I buy this again? Probably not..It is decent, but TCL and Hisense are offering more for less.
