So far, I love the versatility and functions of this pressure cooker. The wider cook area is a plus.
Admittedly, I am a Ninja fan, and have been using a Ninja Foodi OL700 for the last 3 years. I have loved the versatility of this pressure cooker since it has only one lid and functions include Steam and Cook, Broiling, and so much more. Alas, my beloved pressure cooker has been giving me an error message that, according to customer service, indicates the circuit board is going. Although I will continue to use it, I know it is dying and have been on a mission to find a replacement for it. Since the available Ninja Pressure Cookers have 2 lids, I don't want to have to store a separate lid.I did research a number of different pressure cookers and the options they provided, but none of them met my basic requirements. Since Instant Pot is a known and trusted brand, I found the Instant Pot Pro (8 QT) 10-in-1 Pressure Cooker which I love even though it doesn't air fry, broil, or steam and crisp as my Ninja pressure cooker does. Then I found this Instant Pot RIO Wide Plus, 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker. After receiving this pressure cooker, I found a much less expensive Instant Pot RIO Wide Plus and ordered it with the intention of returning the more expensive unit. After receiving the less expensive unit, I realized that it was the 7-in-one unit. There is a world of difference between the two models. In addition to less functions, the display panel was entirely different and the functions supplied were not as versatile. Needless to say, I returned the less expensive unit in favor of this pressure cooker since it has all of the functions and versatility of the standard 8 quart Instant pot 10-in-one that I have in addition to the wider cooking surface for sauteing and for searing more and larger pieces of meat. So, what do I like about this pressure cooker?1) The stainless steel cooking pot is easy to clean and doesn't stain or wear as the cooking pot provided for the Ninja OL700 pressure cooker. This is a definite plus over the Ninja pressure cooker.2) The cooking pot has handles for removing the pot from the pressure cooker. This is definitely a plus as most pressure cookers, including Ninja, require heat-resistant gloves to remove the pot from the cooker.3) I use my pressure cooker for steaming vegetables I grow at least 2 times a week. Some of the pressure cookers I found steamed under pressure and required use of the pressure lid. This pressure cooker does not steam under pressure. So, a vented glass cover can be used for steaming. This makes cleanup easier as the pressure lid is more difficult to clean and dry than a glass lid. In also found a steamer basket that is lower and wider than those for a standard 8 qt. unit which fits this pressure cooker.4) The sauté' mode of this pressure cooker allows selection of multiple levels of heat whereas other have only low or high as options. Since I often make gravy using roast dripping, I have found that low is too low and high boils. Since gravy requires simmering, neither if these options works. I like that I can select the heat level I need with this model.5) I love the larger surface area of this pressure cooker for sauteing and searing more food at one time.6) Preheats faster than other units I tested. It took about 8 minutes to preheat for both steaming and pressure cooking starting with cold water.I haven't used the other preprogrammed functions of this pressure cooker as most of the time, I know the setting needed. Even so, I appreciate that I don't have to use preprogrammed settings when I don't need to. Overall, I am happy with this pressure cooker. It doesn't have all of the functions my Ninja Pressure Cooker has, but it works for what I need, and it is the best I have found. I have also decided to keep both this pressure cook and the 8 quart 10-in-1 as I don't always need the larger cooking surface. I can steam more at one time in the 10-in-1, but also found a steaming basket to fit this RIO wide unit that is wider and lower than my other steaming baskets.Although I am keeping both pressure cookers, I believe I would choose this pressure cooker over the 10-in-1 because of the wider cooking surface. All of the features and controls are the same. The only difference is that this pressure cooker is lower and wider than the 10-in-1 cooker, and the lower/wider accessories may be more difficult to find. If you need to choose between the two appliances, I think I would recommend this unit for the added versatility. Fortunately, I don't have to choose between them.I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update this review if my opinion changes.

Much better than the older instant pots.
Bought this to help prep homemade dog food and it’s fantastic! The new, wider base is wonderful. It can handle a whole chicken and half a pack of chicken thighs in one go, yielding beautiful pressure cooked chicken and broth ready to strain and use. The REo is a definite upgrade from my older instant pot which was hard to navigate and use. They have made upgrades in the user interface and it’s appreciated.

Love wide pot
I had to replace my first one. This is great as it ia shorter and wider. I will never use the tall one again.

Don't buy this model yet!!! No replacement seals available and you will need a new one each year
I just got off the phone with Instant Pot's customer service line (4/2/2025).This is my first pressure cooker and at first it worked amazing and I loved it!This model is Instant Pot's newest model Instant Pot Rio wide 7.5 which stopped working and began leaking at seal. I referenced the user manual to troubleshoot, and it which recommends replacement seals about yearly.THE ISSUE IS: Instant Pot does not sell replacement parts for this model! They do sell seals for other model of Instant Pots. There is a one year warranty, which may offer replacement parts, but rep wouldnt confirm since I purchased mine 21 months ago. I asked if it was discontinued and she said no it's their newest model and at some point they will offer replacement parts for purchase but she has no idea when. For reference, I had two seals with my original purchase which I used to make about 12 meals, before any problems with the seal. I was new to instant pot so it took me a while to really integrate it into my cooking schedule.I have tried many possible solutions at this point like freezing the seals before use.I bought an off-brand seal from amazon that also didn't work (it was noticeably not as thick as the original)If you are thinking you might not mind the trouble of having a lemon of a $180 HUGE appliance ... here is my experience:The last 6 meals I have tried to make have failed. For a convenience appliance when it doesn't work you loose about 45 minutes on each attempt. Preheat cycle, never proceeds to cook cycle and see steam leak, cancel and vent, wait for "do not open lid" warning to go away (longest step). Maybe try your other seal, same story. Then put dinner in a dutch oven to get your food cooked. It's a foreseeable issue! They know customers will need new seals to maintain their units based on their recommended replacement schedule. I would say expect to replace sooner since I used mine infrequently (1x/mo) and had two seals. The rep continually touted "it's our newest model" as to say its too new for replacement parts. She advised to purchase the models: Dual 60V5, Dual plus 60V4 or the Pro 60 as these offer replacement parts.

Very pleased.
I like the size and versatility. Much more portable than my previous IP. I do wish, however, that they made a comparable tempered glass lid for it.

Fabulous!
The pot is lower and wider, but the cooking abilities are the same as my very large Instant pot that I dropped and broke the lid, therefore the replacement. I love the new shape! I use my Instant Pot every week. It is a major cooking tool for me. I especially like that this pot mimics my old one in every way, in particular the dial which is the best for finding the method of cooking, the time and the temperature. I know there are many instant pots to choose from, but this one suits my needs best. I highly recommend it. And while I am single, it would be perfect for a family. And if you have never used a pressure cooker, this pot is absolutely user friendly!
