Pay the money and get this instead of cheaper alternatives
Pyle is a trusted brand. Made the mistake of purchasing a cheaper generic version of this and it deleted priceless recordings of my family. This one costs a bit more, but is from a trusted brand. Easily connects to computer/audacity with appropriate cable. Can save directly to USB drive as well.

It works BUT!
I have only transcribed one tape so far. The unit appears to be cheaply made. The control buttons on the back are very small, black with indentations to show functions. Almost impossible to see. I filled in the indentations with white nail polish which worked. The instruction booklet left out some actions needed to record. Had to figure it out by trial and error. I have not tried to use the ear buds to hear sound quality. However, the sound on the USB drive was very low but exceptable.

Excellent little tape player
I bought this player so I could listen to old tapes of my father's sermons and listen to some music by gospel groups no longer recording. I didn't have any batteries so used the USB and plugged in my speakers. Great sound and instant deja vu. The only difficulty I have is seeing the button labels, but not sorry I bought it.

Pyle of junk
I bought this product on April 2019. I used it a few times. It worked well with converting one cassette tape. However, I tried it several times afterward and the recording quality and conversion quality was terrible. It has set in the box since then. I tried to use it recently–September, 2022 and it would not create any type of file. That is, every time I tried to convert a cassette tape to a digital file using several flash drives and nothing. My flash drives work perfectly so that's not the problem. It didn't record anything. I had used it connected to a USB port on my computer as the instructions show. Today, I thought, maybe it would work if I installed the two AA batteries as the instructions show and not use the USB port on my computer. NOTHING. Not only that, it stopped working completely. Giving it a one star is one star too many!
