I really wanted to like this book
I really wanted to like this book, because I like the author and her blog, but it's not for me. In fairness, I wasn't expecting, or needing, the nutritional advice, although it's fine, as far as it goes. I was looking for low carb recipes. After reading the section on various food items, was quite surprised to see that she recommends using vital wheat gluten for baking, and further surprised to see that her baking mix relies on it. She says if you are gluten intolerant, don't use it, but offers no alternatives. Typically in a low carb recipe book, gluten isn't even on the agenda, as it isn't for me. So, if you, like me, don't eat wheat, be advised.

Small Changes for Big Results.
I was looking for something that would help me manage my T2 Diabetes and GI issues. This really helped me understand many things about sweeteners, fiber, etc that have made a huge difference in my health immediately. I'm so glad I purchased this- I got instant results just by paying attention to what I was putting in my body. Very happy, I totally recommend this for anyone who wants to get serious about making small changes for big results!

author seems super knowledgeable, thick joy of cooking type cookbook
This is a good book written by someone super knowledgeable and w lots of years of experience low carbing unlike many books which are written by young people. Thick and chock full of regular good stuff. It is not sexy or glamorously photographed or hip in any way. You can imagine the atkins people giving this out in the 70s. There are many regular recipes low carbified. Yay. Like joy of cooking but low carb. Things like pumpkin pie etc. The baking section nearly useless to me though because almost all of their recipes rely on referring to previous pages and assembling their flour mixes. (same prob I have w many low carb and paleo and gluten free etc cookbooks I so wish recipes wd just list the actual ingredients for each recipe in the correct amounts and not assume that you are making so many of the recipes in a book that you want to just have on hand their flour mix.) Anyway you shd get this book but don't expect it to bowl you over w its hip graphic design or fresh ideas. You will like it the way you like joy of cooking great to have around as a reference.

This is the absolute best cookbook
Want to be healthy? This is the book for you, your family, your adult kids, and so on. Not just a recipe book - it's PACKED with information! Did you know that rutabaga are a great substitute for potatoes? Boiling them with two walnuts in shells counteracts the bitterness....and a slice of lemon. THOSE kind of tips! Keto friendly cookbook, it also contains NUTRITIONAL BREAKDOWNS!

Good Introduction to Nutritional Ketogenic Eating
This a very informative book that gives a good overview of low-carb eating and why a nutritional ketogenic diet is beneficial. My only criticism is the use of Net Carbs in the nutritional summary of each dish. Many of us, including leading low-carb, high fat, scientists and doctors, do not subscribe to this trend to discount the affects of fiber on blood glucose and insulin production in the body. Frankly, it's a ploy by companies to lull consumers into accepting their high carb, artificially sweetened products as low carb. Consumers should keep in mind that their mileage may vary. Net carbs may be fine for younger people but not necessarily for the rest of us.

WOW, a beauty of a low carb cookbook!
This book is outstanding -- luscious recipes, beautiful photographs, great information both general and specific (including nutritional data on each recipe), spot on and informative quotes -- just a treat for the stomach, the mind, and the eye.I felt nourished by the book itself, treated as a cherished friend sitting down in the author's kitchen and having her share her recipes and thoughts. There is a personal quality to the book which reaches out to one, as a reader and a cook.Even the layout of the pages is beautifully clear -- each recipe starting on its own page headed with maroon typeface, nutritional info in a green box in the sidebar (with some white space if you want to write notes), photographs on the same page as the recipe or on a facing page, an informative note or quote sometimes appearing at the bottom of a recipe as appropriate. If you like cooking at all, get this book for yourself. Get this book as a gift for anyone. It is that good!Amazing book, well worth the price.

Really helpful!
My doctor put me on an even stricter form of the Atkins diet, and this book is extremely helpful with information and ideas. Not all of the recipes work for my specifc diet, but the information is great. By the way, the diet is really helping me lose weight for the first time in my life and it's good for my heart and my diabetes. I am shocked that a meat, eggs, and some vegetables diet is healthy for me, but my blood work shows it. My metabolism has changed and I am burning fat instead of carbs and sugars!

Good food.
The recipes are easy to follow. I have tried other keto recipes from a different cookbook and they all tasted like salt. The recipes in this book taste like real food. Unfortunately, they all take time to make. I'll keep looking for some fast and easy to make keto recipes.
